Title: Unable to Rip using MC 9.0
Post by: larryg on November 29, 2002, 05:36:29 am
Greetings,

I'm a recent purchaser of MJ 8.x.x and found it quite a good product. I thought I'd give MC 9 a try as well, since you are offering a free upgrade. It's also excellent.

However (there's always a downside). I can't rip any of my CDs using MC 9.0.84. At the moment when I start the copy it initialiases the first track then crashes, sometimes sending an error report, sometimes not.

Here's the headline text of the error:
AppName: media jukebox.exe       AppVer: 9.0.84.0       ModName: enc_wma.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0       Offset: 0000193b

I guess I'll have to downgrade for the time being.

Good Luck with the trial.

Try changing some of the options for the drive.  "Use internal aspi", for example.

Thanks Jim,

Tried both IDE and ASPI drive options with no luck. Any other suggestions are most appreciated.

Larry.

Having problems with my cd drive too.
Just goes to 'updating info' and never does anything after that. Just sits there frozen.

I am also unable to rip with MC 9.  I have tried all the oprions on three machines and it crashes after it tries to initiate the drive.  MC9 will play the disc but when you try to rip it crashes ugly.

To find out whether it's WMA or not, please:

Try some other encoder plugins.

Try encoding to APE or MP3.

Please try the next build, I believe this bug has been fixed. It was related to the change in registry locations for Media Center.

Thanks,

I too was unable to rip to WMA (I haven't tried MP3 yet) using 9.0.  In my situation, I found that MC9 crashed when I used UNC paths but worked fine when I used drive letter paths.  So temporarily, I'm using drive letters until they fix this bug.
If you use UNC, give that a try and see if it helps.  MC9 doesn't handle UNC paths well throughout the program at the moment.
