I had not neither updated nor used MJ9 on my laptop for a few builds. When I tried to use it a few minutes ago I got a "version expired". It is normal, I though remembering all the related posts on the forum. So I installed MJ9.087. But it said me "unregistred version" :'(
I had to use a restore.
Really I am afraid each time I install a new build. This licence scheme seems more some kind of "magic" than an exact science...
BTW, before to restore a key I tried to use an older one (even I known it is too old to be valid still) -> MJ loops (and take a lot of memory, more than 170 MB until to release it and continue to loop).

michel,
I don't know the answer to the "lost license" problem but I do know there is a problem with 9.0.087 crashing whenever you go to "playing now". The web page has an interim Version 9 (.084 I think) http://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaJukebox9.exe that won't crash but it also doesn't have some of the cool features that they've added recently. Monday evening should see a new build, I hope.
Sorry you had to use a "restore" but all should be well now for future builds. I've not had any trouble with licensing.

I have also the crash when you go to 'playing now' but I think it is a "normal" bug taking in account it is a beta. Anyway it is not related with my licence lost. Curiously I had (a lot) of licence problems since I use MJ9 only on my laptop (where I began to try MJ9 previews from a clean install, without registering until the end of trial period). And, indeed, I had no probem on my desktop, upgrading from a registered MJ8 installation. May be I need to clean MJ entries in the register and do a clean install of MJ to avoid these recurrent problems.
