Title: Upgrade From 7 to 8 to 9...
Post by: sirrahmit on November 23, 2002, 02:31:56 pm
I originally purchased MJ when it was in it's version 7 stage.

When version 8 was released, I upgraded to it, but did not pay anything and simply restored my MJ 7 license.

I have downloaded and installed MJ 9 Beta (Alpha) and connot restore my license.

Given this series of installs with an original purchase of version 7, do I need to pay the 24+ dollars to upgrade to version 9, even if I was using version 8?

Thanks for any help on this...

Already did it as that's pretty much what I thought.

Three versions of the best media player on the market for 50 bucks... That's a pretty good deal.

Thanks for the reply!

I am having the same problem. My original license was with version 7, which restored my license fine when I upgraded to version 8.

I have upgraded to 9.0, and am unable to restore my license. I keep getting a
message saying "Restore Failed".

I did receive an e-mail from Media Jukebox saying that if I upgraded before December 1st, the version 9 Beta release would be a free upgrade.

Is this not true???

Kranium256,

This product is worth 25 bucks.

richarcfo,

You need to pay for version 9 if you originally bought version 7.  I was confused by the e-mail too.

'UNTIL DECEMBER 1, you can purchase this new Media Center version for the
current price of Media Jukebox -- $24.98. If you already have a version 8.0
license
, you can just download and install version 9.0 now -- the 8.0
license will work with 9.0 (if you switch by December 1 -- an upgrade
charge will apply after December 1).'

Since we bought version 7, we never had a version 8 license.  We were given version 8 for free but still had a version 7 license.  Now you need to pay the upgrade price for version 9.  If you do this before Dec 1, it's cheaper.
