[shadow=black,down,300]Bugs[/shadow][/list]
- ape/apl files show as incomplete for album type. This is caused by the ape image file being imported into the library.
- search window doesn't show all criteria listed. (non-scrollable).
- search bar and playlist bar doesn't update when changing windows' colors or display font (skinning disabled). manual refresh needed.
- searching random tracks, ie: ~t=60, ~s=650, etc, hides files hidden by the view filter resulting in an incomplete list. ie: random 1 hour could show only 20mins.
- able to add playlist groups to view scheme (playlist) but unable to add a playlist group from playlists... in a search criteria. using playlist=<group> manually works.
- unable to add more search criteria manually to a view scheme if there is search criteria previously added (no i-beam cursor at end).
- analyzing streamed files (http://) for replay gain stalls as there is no end.
- remaining_time counts up for live http streams only in visualizations.
- "name" isn't update in visualizations/track info for live http streams when id3 info is available.
- when resizing file toolbar (small), drop down arrow shows. clicking and releasing crashes mj.
- renaming a library name from library manager says library already exists.
- when switching libraries, favorites menu could point to invalid items (doesn't exist).
- when using large fonts, player window, file properties, playlist bar, and tab headers clip the fonts (spacing).
- file properties (internal and windowed) has no horizontal slider.
- columns in statistics for file properties are not remembered when switching views.
- control bar doesn't use the correct font like the file property bar does.
- when removing id3tags from mp3s, and then restoring them from "Update Tags (from Library)", it will write a value for comment in the id3v1 field. This value could be of peak level, rating, or MJ version.
- when viewing the tag dump, it shows comment without a value (id3v1) and no values for id3v2.
- when re-importing the same mp3, MJ shows comment field (library header) as "Media Jukebox" and tag dump as nothing (both id3v1&2),
- quick play on player window (right-click play button) shows n/a for all views (media library).
- location/filename isn't showing sub directories if there are a lot of files in parent directory.
- using condensed display mode (toggle list style twice), mj will sometimes start the first item displayed. usually happens when viewing all files from a parent view like artist (with more than 1 album). individual items like album from arist/album works ok.
- display window isn't resizing viewing area when control bars are always shown. track info, video, visualizations, and none (cover art).
- when viewing an image (right-click, show), it always goes to full screen mode even if windowed mode is activated (jump on play set to none).
- when viewing an image (right-click, play), the control bar shows n/a for file names.
- full screen on monitor #2 takes control of entire desktop (window always on top, retains focus).
- when closing windowed mode, mj retains focus when in background.
- when using "last exit mode", windowed mode won't startup.
- changing display image location doesn't update pic (gif). have to manually copy over MediaJukebox.gif
[shadow=black,down,300]Requests[/shadow]
[/list]- checkbox like system for columns (just like importing). selecting columns one by one is very time consuming, especially now with all the cool columns available.
- remember separate settings for the control bar, one for each mode (internal, windowed, and full screen).
- option to always hide control bar.
- windowed toolbar button.
- splitter bar for the search window.

Current Status...
- MOSTLY FIXED: View schemes that search the removables database aren't displaying all of the entries. Manually searching with a "~d=c" does show all entries. Update: Apparently is a problem when "DB: CD" is combined with "Media Type: Audio" (Inherited from the Audio scheme group). The new top level scheme group "CD & DVD" works fine though.
- FIXED: Getting "Response Code 112: No additional sense data" as the audio burn of the last track completes. Leaves drive locked and spinning at full speed. Have to reboot.
- FIXED: Getting "Updating Media Jukebox Library" message when starting MJ and then find that playing now has been cleared.
- FIXED: Internal ASPI layer isn't detecting TDK VeloCD burners (CDRW4800B and CDRW241040B) as writers when connected to a Promise PCI ATA/100 IDE Controller (which Windows treats as a SCSI controller).
- FIXED: The Erase CD/RW Option is always greyed out.
- New: An erase r/w operation doesn't automatically refresh the display when complete. Have to press cancel and reselect the drive to show that the disc is now empty and ready.
- New: The media server response to auto-detect requests with the host name of the first interface it bound to, even if that interface isn't reachable by the requesting client. My server has 2 interfaces, a public one, and a private one. The Media Server binds to both. When my laptop does a search, the server responds with the private ip address even though it's unreachable and the request came in on the public one.
- New: The media server search results window contains 2 duplicate entries for every server interface with the same address. I.E. 2 multi-homed servers show up as 8 entries in the list, 4 duplicate entries for server 1 and 4 duplicate entries for server 2. Previous problem could also apply.
- New: Pressing cancel in the media server search results window attempts a connect anyway (aparently not to any of the resuls though since the connect fails).
- Open: When "Decode directly to CD" is unchecked, and you burn more than 1 CD, the raw temp file is deleted and recreated for each CD instead of using the one created at the start of the first burn.
- Open: If you select "Custom" as the MP3 Encoder Quality, the "Advanced" dialog allows you to select only bitrate instead of allowing you to specify custom command line parameters which is what it used to do.
- Open: "Calculate replay gain during ripping" isn't doing anything.
- Open: During a convert from wav to mp3, the track name is changed from
"[NAME]" to "[TRACK #] - [NAME]".
- Open: The Import dialog still shows the old style patterns for setting properties from the directory and filename. It also seems to not actually do anything even if corrected.
- Open: If you connect to a media server with a V8 database, V9 asks if you want to upgrade the database and re-analyze the files. It should simply return an error message saying you can't connect to a server with a downlevel database. If you press cancel on the upgrade message, MJ crashes.
- Open: Converting MP3 to WAV (as a test) with the results directed to a new directory. The wav file is created in the new location correctly but then MJ attempts to copy it over the original mp3 file with the mp3 file extension. In earlier releases I got a pop-up that asks if I want to replace file "original name.mp3" with size 5mb with "original name.mp3" with size 52mb. In this release, I get an "Error moving file or folder", "The file exists."
- Open: In "File Naming and Location" you can't enter paths with leading or trailing periods. I.E. If I try to enter a path for track images like "m:\.coverart" the period gets stripped out as soon as I move the cursor out of the entry field. Any valid file system path should be allowed.
- Open: When collapsing "Auto Smartlists (audio)" after selecting one of the random or favorite lists, the app hangs for about 10 seconds while spinning the cpu at 100%. (maybe not a "problem", but it's still a pain)

When browsing via My Computer, A lot of my file types are off! I select Audio Only but get a smattering of video as well. I checked the Properties and it says Audio, but it's a video file. It shows the extension as mpg or avi but classifies it as an Audio file. Perhaps this is because I don't have the DIVX codec installed? Hey, maybe JRiver can use an Open Source DIVX codec.... (if such a thing exists...) Just a thought...
-
- Installing the new build, mp3 plugin losses the current 'tag saving' setting.
- Installing the new build, MJ losses the current association 'Files association' setting.
- Installing the new build, MJ losses the toolbar customization.
- CD Copy settings/Encoding: 'custom' quality for ogg/vorbis encoder doesn't give access to 'advanced options'.
- Renaming a 'customi' field doesn't run. Moreover that leads to loss columns setting (all columns become displayed and it is painful to remove them !
-
Old timer appearing again:
- If sorted by anything else than sequence, sequence in playing now re-orders when deleting file (delete from harddrive checked)
-
It still doesn't recognise any Firewire CD-Writers as writers. Now it detects my EIDE DVD-ROM Reader as a writer. Oops!

The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
and MJ9 shuts down with two alert windows.

Again a licence problem !
I have no problem on my desktop but each time I install a new build on my laptop I loss my registration.
I am not sure it is immediately but as I had been able to burn a CD without problem I think it was registered still (burning is a PLUS feature, no it isn't ?). But I just called 'Media Server' and I got the splash screen warning "Plus feature, 0 days left" !
Since my .mjr file is valid still I has been able to restore again but please check it, it is a painful bug !
-
I fail to connect to a media server. ?
On the server side:
Server initialized
sharer ready to accept connections.
On the client side, I try 'File'/'Library'/'Local Server' then I get:
Cannot establish connection to the server
-
I saw the same thing on my home network. I think it is because MJ now looks for the server by hostname instead of IP address. This will be changed today, but you can get around it now by editing this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\JRiver\Media Jukebox\Properties\Libraries\Search for Media Servers
My value for this key is this:
m01p://192.168.1.100:81
Yours will, of course, be different.
-
16. NEW: Media Jukebox can now display cover art from Media Server.
Im ont seeing anything ... does this only work for files with EMBEDDED cover art ? I see that the files are supposed to have cover art in the remote PC, but im getting no pics !
-
I got a way round to get my Handheld working again:
I added a key to the registry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER (copied it from the "portable drive" key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
So I suppose this Portable Drive plugin is still looking in HKEY_CURRENT_USER i.s.o. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Is this plugin gonna be updated or should I keep my workaround ?
Thanks,
Benny

Sorry to report My predator CD burner is not seen. Also CDDB is not seen with this version. My understanding was that Version 8 lincensed owners still had this facillity??
Please let me know Gerrysan.
-
During conversion of an MP3 file to MP3 format (128 -> 98 kbs), I still get a "Confirm File Replace" box even if I specify to move the new file to a new location. The files do end up in the new location, but it tries to replace the original too.
-
>> My understanding was that Version
>> 8 lincensed owners still had this facillity??
This Option Is Not In MJ9
-
Just noticed the feature for recurse etc down the bottom. Can we set how many levels it recurses. Right now this is locking MJ when it tries to recurse through the whole computer I'm guessing.
Trying to get my TV Card that's never really worked that great since day one to work again. Went to 'Scan for Channels' and found the UK not listed even though every other country was.
When MJ's busy doing something, like recursing through dir's. MJ Doesn't redraw itself and so looks like it's crashing.
-
Ok, couple of things.
- 1 - I worked out why half my mp3's were showing up with the name's, artists, track info etc missing and the name just showing the file name - none of these files have id3v2 tags and MJ isn't bothering to read the v1 tags so is just showing them as empty. In actual fact all the info is actually in the id3v1 tags. There's no way to differentiate between the two tags in MJ or to copy from one to the other etc and so I only realised this when trying a different program (Dr Tag) - I've now used it to fix the problem and copy the id3 tags accross so they work in MJ.
- 2 - Trying to do a select all on my music just so that I can choose 'update db from tags' takes ages. It's only meant to be selecting the songs, not doing anything to them. I'm not sure what it's doing but could it be optional as I really dont like this delay sometimes. It's really annoying and frustrating having to wait for it to do whatever it's now doing.
-
There's no way to differentiate between the two tags in MJ or to copy from one to the other etc and so I only realised this when trying a different program (Dr Tag)
You can check it selecting a single track, into properties/format.
Also MJ9/MP3 plugin losses its settings when you reinstall MJ so you have to re-set your id3 preferences.
Trying to do a select all on my music just so that I can choose 'update db from tags' takes ages.
The same here with the previous build, no with 078. Try displaying a minimum of columns in the main view (only album, name, artist for example).
-
Again, I had a whole list of bugs to report for Beta 4, but suddenly, a new build and a locked topic. It is nice that most of the bugs were fixed though!!
Just one thing that is irritating me a lot at the moment:
- Media Library 9.0.78 Changing any of the properties of one of the standard items in the media library erases any custom groups that are present and restores others to default.
To Replicate: Create a Group called "Classical Music", give it search criteria playlist=[Classical] (I have a smartlist which combines all the different classical genres). Now go to "Audio" group properties and change search criteria to read mediatype=audio -playlist=[Classical] and hit Ok. Suddenly the Classical Music group has disappeared.
- Media Library 9.0.78 Another interesting bug: Having done the above, -playlist=[Classical] ignores the classical music correctly. playlist=[Classical] has nothing to show, even with view schemes below... This bug is not present when you select a playlist and it is given a playlistid==xxxxxx-type rule.
That's all for now!
P.

Oh... Another thing. Am I to assume that it is the é that is causing MJ to not want to expand it?
I know that a lot of software treats é and similar characters as simply an e when it comes to searching. Is it possible for MJ to do that too?
-
16. NEW: Media Jukebox can now display cover art from Media Server.
Im ont seeing anything ... does this only work for files with EMBEDDED cover art I see that the files are supposed to have cover art in the remote PC, but im getting no pics !
Me too. I could connect to a media server following the instructions posted by Jim but I cannot see any cover neither through track info template nor properties/image windows, for both mp3 and ogg files.
-
Ooh... some more bugs: this time the Album Analyser
- Album Analyser 9.0.78 Take a look at this pic:
Not so complete if you ask me!
- Album Analuser 9.0.78 Take a look at this pic:
In theory, this album should appear under Multiple artists (incomplete).
- Album Analyser 9.0.78 Tracks that should appear under Multiple artists (incomplete) and Multiple artists (complete) still showing under Single artist (incomplete). I think this has to do with the folders that they are in. Are tags not good enough?
-
Somthing Interesting:
When I Click On PlayList "Needs Audio Analysis" one file comes up this one file has already Been Analyzed.
Song Name: I Can't Go For That (Kind Of Neat It Happened With This Song Name)
Artist: Hall And Oats
RealPlay Gain -0.00
Peek: 40%
BPM: 110
Intensity: 2
Number Of Plays: 1
It seems when using this option MJ is checking the Real Play Gain And If It Does Not = -0.00db then it has not been analyzed.
When you pull it up in the analyzer it is marked "Done"

Sometimes When I Dbl Click On A Song To Play MJ Vanishes Without Error.
And other times when clicking on the same song there is no error and it plays.
this also happens to other songs.
everytime this happens I am playing a song and I dbl click on another song to play.
Jump On Play: None
Double Click: Replace Playing Now (Single)
Play Button: Play All Visible

Great progress, but two things still requested:
1. "Volume Name" as separate column. (not included in filename)
2. Advanced cross-fading: change cross-fade time during playback without stopping playback, best directly on the main-interface of MJ (above Player) like in BPM Studio. Why don't you just use the same interface as BPM Studio? I think it's the most intuitive interface around, just two lines showing fading time & speed, moreover fade-in &-out are independent of each other.

Put a CD in either drive.
Single click on any song on either drive:
Window title is "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library"
"Runtime Error!"
This has stopped happening and I can play CD's (not sure what I did) but still can't rip.

Double clicking a .m3u playlist file in explorer to try make MJ play the whole album results in MJ trying to play the .m3u file and not loading the playlist.
Checked .m3u file and it's normal list of track names.

In the Media Scheduler, when I choose "Start TV Recording", the "Record Source" box is always empty and I can't choose channels.
Media Scheduler is looking for channels in the wrong registry location. This needs to be fixed, hopefully in the next build.

Little things that are driving me bananas and giving me carpal tunnel syndrome to boot:
- Albums and Artists are case sensitive. 'Sketches On Standards' and 'Sketches on Standards' are recognized as two different albums. 'Jazz Piano with Bill Evans' by Marian McPartland is seen as a different album than 'Jazz Piano with Bill Evans' by Marian Mcpartland.
- Clean File Properties needs some modification in it's application of upper case/lower case logic. 'McPartland' becomes 'Mcpartland.' Characters following punctuation marks are changed to lower case. 'O'Day' becomes 'O'day' and 'Love Is...The Tender Trap' becomes 'Love Is...the Tender Trap.'
- Search criteria is lost when the list style is toggled. In other words, if I enter 'hickory' in the search dialog, 'hickory' disappears when I toggle the list view.
- Smartlists only have 2 list styles - Text and and track view; the album view in not available.

MJ is seeing all my CD drives (2 real, 1 image drive) as CD Writers... Haven't tried writing to any of them yet. ;)

What happens when you install a new build on your laptop? Do you get any error messages? When you click on the help menu in MJ, are the "buy" and "restore" choices available to click on?

No error messages. I don't know if I am still registered after to install as I forget to check it each time. But as I said, last time I could burn (a PLUS feature which need to be registered) without problem. And, suddenly, a few hours later, doing Tool/Media Server, I got the splash screen warning me I am not registered (and 30 days expired).
Next time I will try to remember to check registration info immediately after the installation.
