Hi!
MJ download still does not work behind proxy. It is impossible for normal people to download plugins, check new versions etc.
It's possible to do it by downloading files manually and modifying path to them in package definition file.

Maris

It's your proxy.
Could a few people confirm that it works?
-
It doesn't work here. Gateley (I think) and I exchanged a whole bunch of emails and test files for version 8 and it was working fine at one point. And then suddenly it stopped working. I can say for certain that nothing has changed on our firewall/proxy server (since I'm the one that maintains it), but MJ just keeps coughing up the same error message about not connecting to a server. This is a fresh format-install of XP as well.
FWIW, We're using Microsoft Proxy Server.

I can confirm it doesn't work here either. Behind a MS Proxy 2.0 It never prompts for proxy authentication. and hence fails. The same for YADB
Using MJ 9.0.70
On a clean install of Win2K SP2

Hi Doof,
Do you remember if this was the NTLM problem? Microsoft was using a proprietary authentication scheme called NTLM and we had to figure it out and add it. You might have talked with Raymond about this?
Also, do you remember when it stopped working?
Thanks,
j

I really don't remember the details. I remember it working great at one point and then it just stopped working, so I went through and deleted every single j river registry key and file I could find, reinstalled and then it worked again. And then, just as mysteriously, it stopped working. I assumed it was a corrupt registry key again, and just accepted that it didn't work.
But just recently I did a full format and install of XP, and then installed MJ9. One of the first things I did was test plugin downloading and it failed. So now I'm not sure that it's a corrupt registry setting.
It's something that I use so infrequently here at work that I really can't pinpoint when it stopped working. I do remember Raymond (thanks Gately - it was Raymond) and I exchanging emails and he kept sending me different versions of mjreader.dll... There was talk of the NTLM stuff, but I really don't remember what was figured out there.

Update: I'm trying to get a MS proxy server installed here. If that fails, would y'all volunteer to run the debugging version for me? It doesn't involve much: save a dll, install a new one, run the program, mail me the result, and restore your old dll.

Sure, would be happy to.

Of course. :)

Thanks y'all,
I sent one via email, if you don't get it, drop me a note at gateley @ jriver.com
