I've installed Windows XP Media Center Edition..

It's the same basic idea:
LARGE TYPE on Images:

Considering Hairstyle is HTML based, I don't see any reason why it couldn't be made to look like that. But with the added benefit of not HAVING to look like that.
Does MCE allow for customization of the interface?
-
It's XML based. Skins are stored here (for V9):
C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\FullSkins
Here's an example of the file that controls it:
<MJFS version="1.0">
<SKIN Name="JRiver" Author="JRiver" WebSite="http://www.mediajukebox.com"
/>
<BACKGROUND Bitmap="Background.jpg"
/>
<LOCATION TextColor="000000" Rect="20,2,80,15"
/>
<BUTTONS TextColor="FFFFFF" SelectedTextColor="00FFFF" Rect="75,15,95,98"
/>
<PIP Rect="2,27,70,88"
/>
</MJFS>

XML, not HTML
my bad
-
But it can look like that? or is it only text on a background image?

I don't understand what you are asking.

I don't understand what you are asking.
Can hairstyle really look like Windows Media Center Edition, or is it only a background with plain text.
So can I make buttons, move text, animate text, put a time counter on a page with hairstyle?

One thing I wondered about Hairstyle - and it is linked to something I mentioned before abouyt sorting in the tree - currently when you navigate to an album in it, the album tracks are listed in alphabetical order and not track number order. Is this supposed to be like this or is there a way to change it? I would quite like this to be the case in the tree too. I have a view scheme that is Artist/Album/Name. The name part is currently listed in alphabetical order. Will this change once the new sorting code is fully implemented? I tried Sort: Track# but this just gave me no tracks :(

Explain something to me, please.
Why would you want Name showing up in the Tree? I don't get it. What's the benefit to doing this?
-
I like to have access to single files from within the tree as well as the whole album. If I have my view set up to show a single picture per album rather than the seperate tracks then I have no way to select the single song from the list view, hence the need to display it in the tree.
Each to his own. I do things in a certain way and I am sure you do them differently. Thats the beauty of MJ that allows us to do things in our own way and doesn't stipulate a specific way of working...

Some things are available now. More will be available by release. We'll try to add what you need.

Thanks.. it also would be cool if I can select font's to display text on the screen.

It's the same basic idea:
LARGE TYPE on Images: <cut>
Please tell me: what is hairstyle? I searched the forum, but could not found the answer. But I do know, that I am interested in an interface like that.

Run MJ 9. Go to Playing Now. Full screen. Then press the menu key (to the left of the ctrl key on the right).
Escape or menu key returns.

NoCodeUK> Hey, thanks. I wasn't trying to say that your way was wrong or anything. I just couldn't think of any reason to do that. I hadn't thought of the single image album view bit.... So that's one reason to do it, although I'd still rather see a way of selecting individual tracks from that view rather than the tree.
Now all I need to do is figure some reason why anybody would want Track # in the tree. :P
-
Now that one I agree on. Sort by Track No when viewing names yes, but show track no in a view scheme Ummmm.....
Adam
PS Also think it would be cool if there were some way to select individual tracks in album view. At the moment it seems crazy to have the all tracks picture view for albums showing every track with the same album cover...seems to waste a helluva lot of resources to show all those pics when one can be shown. May be a split screen affair like Rhino's album view showing the cover and the seperate tracks...

Thanks, it was really in a secret place.
But why mine lokes like this:
I mean the black area is too big, I switched to other resolution, to visualisation, to "image" mode, but none of them solved my problem.
I also don't know, how do the links working: sometimes I have to click constantly to get a reacion, and I can not move back in the menu. Is there any documentation about this mode?
-
I can not move back in the menu
I would also like to have a return to previous menu in Hairstyle.
Thanks
Griff

There isn't any documentation yet except in one of the old announcements for the previews. I'll see if I can find it and make a new thread.
The screen is based on this file:
C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\FullSkins\J River\main.xml. Edit it with Notepad and change this section to use these numbers:
<LOCATION
TextColor="000000" Rect="20,2,80,15"
/>
The four numbers represent percentages from the left and top of the screen (I think).
Navigation is with cursor keys until you get what you want, then enter should work. It isn't entirely finished, I agree.
-
I would also like to have a return to previous menu in Hairstyle.
The left arrow key should do that. We should probably also add the backspace key for that.
-
It would be good if you could back up using only the mouse.
-
But the whole point is that it is not designed to be used with a mouse :)
