I know this is going to turn out to be a dumb question, but what is the purpose of the 54.\8 playlist ?

Sounds like a corrupted one.  What's in it?

It's empty.  It was one of the default playlists that's present on both an upgrade from v8 to v9 and a clean install of v9.  This list was not present in v8.

Sounds like it got created during the upgrade.  It would still be there on a new install using the same library.

I'd just delete it.
