Title: RFE: Filter Playlist Groups
Post by: drosoph on September 29, 2002, 10:49:44 am
I would like to put a filter on the Playing Now that is not based on an individual Playlist, but rather a playlist GROUP.

Create playlist groups like this:
Me --
    Favorites
    Techno
Wife --
    Favorites
Baby --
    Barney's Greatest Hits
    Mother Goose

I want to put a DO NOT PLAY filter for the entire GROUP of "Baby" :)  So, if I have a party, noone accidentally puts a Barney song OR any other song for our son on the Jukebox!!!

Does this make sense now ?

The only part I don't understand is why you wouldn't want to play a Barney song at a party, especially towards the end  ;D

Baaaahhhhahahahahaha!!!  (http://pimpin-seattle.d2g.com/images/smileys/rofl.gif)

Hehe, as a workaround, you could do this:

1.  Create a new smartlist, call it "uberfilter"
2.  Add each playlist in the Baby group as a SKIP rule to your smartlist.  That is, hit add rule, playlist.  Select the offending barney playlists, and select skip.  Now you can use Uberfilter to filter your playback!  :D

Or, you could create another library and delete the barney stuff from it... then you can switch to it and not worry about it.

It'd still be a cool idea to filter by playlist group, mind you... valid idea, but there's definately ways to get the job done now.

Yeah, make a smartlist like this for your filter:

playlist=[My Playlist Group"

Thank guys ... I already KNOW the workaround .. that's why this is an RFE ...

I'm trying to make this simpler for all users ... by adding this functionality ... I know how to create yet another playlist based on other playlists :)

Just a thought for future enhancements ...
