When MJ is skinned you can change the font color. Drawback: Skinned.

How? ?

I'm using Green Eyes skin but there is no font color choice under Options, Tree View Settings/Font.  The area of the Font dialog box for font color is blank.

Doc,

You have to open the xml document in NOTEPAD. You'll find this in the skins of MJ thru Windows Explorer. Once opened you will see font color=######. These numbers are what color the font is. Pick the color you want and type it in. Save the document. Re start MJ.

Note: Close MJ before doing any of this.

Note 2: To find a color chart, search Google for HTML Color Charts. Or a good site that has one is PageTutor.com

PS- Save a copy of the original xml somewhere in case something goes wrong. You can delete the modified one and re-paste the original that way.

Correction Doc,

Text=

Selected Text=

Colors Title=

These are what you should look for in the xml. Make sure the selected text and text are contrasting colors. Otherwise you may not be able to see the text.

Thanks. ;D

I have several color programs that show me the settings for all colors.

But, I guess my BIG question is...
Why is this not built into the font option like other programs? ?

Seems to me this should be added to MJ9 & the color settings should be in the Options/Fonts screen so they can be easily changed at any time by anyone.

Well, I'm not sure about that. But a short answer may be that it doesn't really enhance overall functionality of MJ.

I have not tried this either-changing the schemes in windows. For an unskinned MJ this would (should?) work. But it will probably do it to everything on system.

In unskinned mode, we follow the Window's color scheme, like a good-little-program.

When we're skinned, we let the skin author choose how it should look.

Drawback: Skinned.

Lots of the drawing is actually faster with skinning on than without it -- and it looks a lot better.  Not sure why it's a drawback.

Nether does Visualizations... but the're there (and very nice too).

Sometimes, I run across a skin that I like, but the author choose a hard to read font, or one that has little contrast to the back ground so I'm forced to not use that skin.

If the font color can be changed manually in one of the files, it should be in the options.

MJ lets me changed the font style & size so  whay no the color also? ? Just makes sence!

Since switching to XP I like MJ unskinned. However, it still does not draw any faster with skins applied using this OS. Could be because most skins do not use style sheets that take advantage of XPs skinning ability.

For me, unskinned is much faster, at everything. This is why I would consider it a drawback. But, it could just be this machine. So maybe you aren't experiencing the same thing as me. This isn't a slam of skins. In general I like skins. Yes they look good. Yes they give you a way to change the look of MJ. But as a rule, for me, they slow things down. That is why it's a drawback.
