The same than Rapsody.
You can choise artist song ,skip songs as much as you like .
Look like there is a large catalogue kind of Rollings Stones 177 songs who 136
but Doors 3.
unlike Rapshody it looks like it is world wide ,not only US.
But look like you cannot listen by album-not sure-
There is a free trial
And a very bad thing that would make many people not taking it:

Yes, it will bill people some 50 bucks first, well but you can try the 3 months contract which bill some 18 dollars first.
But it is good for me, I am not US residents

As far as i understand it is for all.
I did not see the 3 months options ,instead of a full year.
There is a free trial that you can get,have a look.
But keep in mind that it is streaming NOT downloading.
Of cause there is a way to rip streams.......
With MJ8 or MC9 for a start......

I checked out Rhapsody, and, as mentioned above, it's streaming audio or $0.99/DL. I can record streaming audio, but I want the service that has the most music for the least $$$. Not asking for too much ;) considering I could use Kazaa or some other prog to get (il)legal music. Any suggestions?!

EMusic has slowed down quite a bit, at least on jazz. Very few new listings, most of them over the top (Asylum Street Spankers? X-rated band, no doubt). Have emailed them inquiring what's going on, heard nothing.
Rhapsody is first-rate for jazz and blues - has much of the Blue Note catalogue, very good audio quality.
Haven't looked at MM. Does anyone know what they stream at?

Look like Emusic works " by Trucks'
All this last weeks they put rock/punk.
After that ,they will load 'trucks' of jazz or new-age.
I can tell you concerning punk/garage/ spy /indee that they are close to have 80 % of the US labels.

I have a registered MusicMatch ,so i got an offer for a 2 weeks free trial.
I did not take it yet,cause i was on my way to update computer and change connection [ get cable sunday instead of the DREADFULL ADSL/PPPOe]
Before it i had a 2 weeks free trial of the MM radio 'old style'
They stream on mp3 -this i am sure- at 128 kps before ,do not know if they upgraded it.
The music was not the same than on Rhapsodie.
More the MTV/ top 10 stuff.
They may have change now.
Anyway go to they site and have a look i'am sure there is a 7 days free trial

I have a moral aversion to MusicMatch. Not as bad as RealJukebox but still too ... something. Indefinable at this point. But then again, sometimes I forget my children's names for a few minutes.
What I don't like is their ubiquitousness. On store shelves, bundled with computers and MP3 players and such. The darling of Cnet.
Have you ever seen a BAD Cnet rating? I'm not talking about the Cnet Forum. We know about that. I'm talking about the Cnet staff ratings. NEVER a bad one.
I suppose I have the same reasons for not liking MusicMatch as some have against Microsoft. Nothing in particular. They're just EVERYWHERE.
What I actually am here to say is that I really like Rhapsody a lot. Great sound, great selection and new albums of all genres added daily. Or at least there are new ones every time I log on.
It does stink about the US only items. Same rate for less music. I suspect that's a publisher's issue rather than a Rhapsody issue. Like Emusic.

I did not like MM ,let say even more than you.
But i bought it for the Super Tag fonction. Just very very very great.
I do not use MM ,only to get tags AND sleeves.
In fact i use it as a tagger software. With MC9,the $20 i spent on it are the best $$$ spend on the web EVER for me.
I did play a little with it.
Much better than you and me think ,but ,at the best ,an average jukebox.
Rhapsody was quite good ,yes i agree. But i was able to get only one week free trial.
Anyway ,i ripped most of what i played,so not bad.

I actually did record some Rhapsody streams, despite my previous diatribe about the illegality of such.
The results were less than satisfactory in the fact that I still had to process them through a noise reduction system.
The reason for that is that the only way I could get it to work was a loop back connection from my Stereo-Link (for playback) to my sound card (for recording) and that introduced a slight buzz. Easily filtered with WavePurity but it became a task that I didn't want to bother with.
I will just keep my Rhapsody and stream it whenever I wish to play anything. There's really no difference where I keep the songs. They're easily accessible. And I don't have to take up MY valuable hard drive space when I can just keep it on THEIR server.

HERE YOU GET A POINT-and a very important one-
It is also what i did with Mp3.com and 'Mymp3'.
I have few thousands songs in it.With a hundred playlists.
As you say ,no need to use space on your hard drive.
But at the end of the month,they change and fo free artists will get only room for 3 songs.
So now i'am downloading like a mad.
With Rapshody it was different ,i know i had it for only 7 days, so i riped a lot.
TotalRecorder was not working with Raphody-but my computer was just in a poor shape that it can be a problem on my side-
I used PowerAmp recorder because it has a fonction where you can put time of the songs and it stops the song at this time and start the next ,and so on.
Now you have this fonction with MC9 as well. The downside is that you need to set volume yourself.
At the start it can be a pain in the ...
In one of my posts ,there is tips about it.
The more you use it ,the less time you need to set it.
And you get a sound ready to listen ,the same than the stream.
Better to rip in the format of the stream ,WMA 128 in this case [ if i remember correctly ].
I tested to rip to wma 128 and mp3 192 and did not see any differences ,so i did it in 192 kps.
Listen to the Little Feat concerts: a lot of groove for old freak like you [ and me ..]

My Recorder in MJ doesn't work at all. That's a reported issue. Maybe I can get it fixed soon.

Had some early problems using Total Recorder back to back with Rhapsody. Were you using Direct Sound or Wave? Wave seemed to solve them.

when using TotalRecorder Rhapshody just stopped to play.
Look like you cannot use that i call 'automatic riping level'.
You know what i mean ,the one click fonction.
I had to reverse to the same kind of Recorder than MJ.
In this case ,better to use ihe MJ one because you get a really good sound with it.

Beside it you can rip on the fly to all formats ,unlike TotalRecorder.
I use TotalRecorde only if i can use the one click riping fonction.
I am not mad about TotalRecorder. From time to time his driver quite mess around with your settings.
Maybe because of WindowsMe. Will see with Windows 2000 if i have the same problem
