I was just kidding, since it's a WMP skin, and WMP has been accused of compromising users' privacy by phoning home.

Looking good.

Bug - Top half of top toolbar is not being drawn.
http://www.marko121.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/pics/mcwmptb.jpg

Requests
Rating Stars - Any chance the 'filled in' rated stars could be made brighter, as if lit up? This would make it so much easier to read.

Location bar - Any chance of a 3D effect for it? For a fraction of a second I thought I'd lost it before I realised it had gone flat.

Like the colours in this a lot. It's often hard to tell between "selected" and "currently playing" in a lot of skins and I find myself editing the XML file to fix it. Not this time though 8)

Is the "smiley face" icon to the left of the dsp studio button a subtle design touch, or is it meant to do anything?

Topbar Icons are not supported uptill now ... and that is a cause of the new shaped topbar... use bottom bar for icons... (Sorry)

Important

For people used to add icons in the topbar area of MC
my skin is unable to view Topbar icons correctly and this is caused by the shaped area in the top bar...

Quote
well i can move the shaped area to the right a little to enable adding some topbar icons..

if this is can make somebody happy let me know..., and if the topbar shaped are looks better like this without ability to add icons.. let me know either...

Thank you

Maybe you would like to take a look at the bug thread for 224... I posted a list of obsolete images. You can even remove the "Thumbs.db". ;)

It's a hidden file that windows creates when you open a folder with images in Explorer.

It's a nice looking skin. If you could extend the top portion of it more so that some toolbar buttons could be displayed... say 12-15, then it would be even better. As it is now, I won't use it simply because I can't really get used to having my toolbar at the bottom. I have some buttons there, but only the ones I don't use very often.

Unfortunately the "TransColor" is not supported in the <MENU> section...otherwise something like this could be done:
(http://www.futurehome.de/mc/Menu_Back.gif) + Margins="1,1,3,3" TransColor="FF00FF" in <MENU> section.
It's of course not a real schadow, but...

I found a "Thumbs.db" in the skin directory I downloaded from you...maybe you have deleted it meanwhile...

Did you found the images I posted in the bug thread for 223 (post 9 from the bottom)?

P.S.: Maybe you can cut off some pixels from the top of your PlayerBar_xxx buttons (Prev, Next, Stop, Pause, Play) and add some pixels to the top of the Playerbar_Display to bring buttons and display to a more equal horizontal position...just a suggestion  ;)

There were one quote too much in your "TopBorder" line...try these settings:

Margins="270,93,104,0"
DrawMode="REGION_E_HSTRETCH,REGION_E_VTILE,REGION_B_STRETCH,REGION_H_STRETCH"
(without the empty space in the last "STRETCH" (YABB Bug???)

and use this image:

I agree.  It's hard to make out the buttons here.

I'd just like to say though that I love this skin.  Thank you!!!  I particularly like the vivid gold of the rating stars.  I'm not one for changing skins too often, I find one that I like and stick with it for years - and this is the skin I'll stick with.

It's hard to see Undo & Redo in the Location Bar. Even so with the Rotate icons. The background is too dark.

Maybe you can get more "light" to the icons when the mouse is there?

Even so this my skin!!

Skin looks great except a few small points.

Firstly the blue colour used for some of the text is almost identical to the dark blue used for the background making it VERY hard to read.

Secondly the top being cut out replicates WMP well but means the buttons dont show properly - any chance of a version of this without the cutout so we can still get the buttons?

Last point - the yellowish colour that's used in the skin? for like background for the properties box - it doesn't appear to go with the skin? is this colour deliberate?

Overall thou great skin :)

Just look at the text alongside the toolbar buttons on the location bar.  I think this is what Nila is referring to.  WMP9 uses white and I think this looks better.

Also the blue used for the location bar background is a bit dark compared to WMP9. The colour you've used in the top right (where minimise, maximise and close are) would be better for the location bar.

The yellowy grey that Nila talks about (background to the properties box etc) just needs to be a little whiter IMO.

The toolbar buttons are not very colorful - just shades of white and blue. Why no reds and greens like in WMP?  e.g. The delete button (X) should be red.
UPDATE:  I see that the color appears when you hover over them.  I think it would be better the other way round i.e. colorful all the time unless you hover over them when it changes to blue / white shades.  Don't know if this is possible?

Can you remove the little  :( next to the DSP button -or is this just your signature?

I still love this skin.  Thanks for all your hard work.

Just another small observation and suggestion to make this fantastic skin even better..:

The player controls look like they are greyed out unless you hover over them.  I think it's the wrong way round and they should be nice and bright UNTIL you hover over them.  Have a look at the PixOS skin and you'll see what I mean.

Well, recently iam upgrading VGA card of my DELL laptop (inspiron 2650 :P) whick my work on it from GeForce2 Go 16 MB to 32 MB ram...
so...a pause of about 1-2 days maybe..:)
but here is my point that would be included next beta:
Quote

Oh, my God!!

This's the Skin.

Minor changes though:

Undo & Redo need some more "lightning" and so do the boxes in Tagging mode.

The space for topbar buttons is two much. For me.

Thank you

Never mind it's still My Skin.

BTW it's OK to have MC runing with your skin when you install a new beta, say .227 to night or should I stick to PixOS?

The buttons fit well.

You could actually trim it back, as far as I'm concerned. I'm just not sure how far back would be safe and still be able to see them all. The thing is, I run MC fullscreen, so I have a lot of extra space there now. I just don't think I could say "Make it half the size" because if we're not running the same resolution, it wouldn't match up, I don't think.

I'm not sure how much space others want, but for me personally, I use the following (in case you wanted to optimize it - make it as small as possible for everybody else, but still let me have my toolbar buttons :D )

File
Edit
View
Player
Tools
Help
-----------
Import Media
-----------
Playing Now
Listening To
Artist Info
-----------
Quick Play
Favorites
Recently Imported
-----------
Skin Manager
Mini-Me

That way if you made those your toolbar, you could see exactly what I need. But you don't need to go through all that on my account. I just seem to be the only picky one here... :P

ToMy00, Thanks for letting us have sight of your new skin so soon.  It's still great but not the big change I'm hoping for.  I too prefer the top area like it was in 3.  These are the changes I think would make it perfect:

  • Buton text on location bar is hard to read

its white text on dark blue background.. so i think its not hard to read!

  • Location bar background needs to be same color as blue in top right

what top right exactly... the background around the close and etc.. buttons ... or the background around the search box!?

  • Toolbar buttons need color

its is not supported (the buttons image was removed in the development)

  • Player controls look to be greyed out and need some color

well i made it like just in media player 9... so i dont think others prefer your idea :)

After installation of .230 there's a "Refresh button" in Action Windows with the PixOS skin.
That's not the case for your skin, ToMy00. The button is also missing in Brushed Metal. Haven't check other skins.
The next question is what's beeing refreshed?

Ther's also something with the volume bar that's looking strange.

I love this skin! (in spite of hating WMP)   :D
It is one of only 3 skins I use.
Thank you

Question, How can I replace the background color?
You did a great job; the colors work well, you have good contrast, but for some reason I just feel I'd like it better with a less-dark shade in the panes. While I find myself shying away from white backgrounds because they are too stark and bright to be pleasing and soothing (thus preferring "Z" over "PixOS"), this background is not quite making me feel as warm and fuzzy as I'd like    ::)
Is there like one file I can easily change, perhaps a color sample or spec number I can easily replace to do this?  I know nothing about skinning buthave played around with various graphics software.

::: wondering how hard it is to learn to do skinning and wishing she knew how :::    ?

then change the value for <Colors Text

If anyone out there knows if it's possible to change skins (any skin) to allow the toolbar buttons to display in their glorious full colour when inactive, i.e. when you are NOT hovering over them, please tell me how it's done.

Haven't you heard it's a battle of words
the poster bearer cried
Listen son, said the man with the gun
There's room for you inside

It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about
With, without
And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about

Out of the way, it's a busy day

For want of the price of tea and a slice
The old man died

well i hope us and them work out  ;D

ToMy00.  I had a play around with the background color in the list and the tree to see if I could get it closer to WMP.  I think this is the color:  3A4570.

I'm not sure that it's better than what you used (282F4A) - but it's a closer match to WMP.  I can't make my mind up which one I prefer now!

Lisa - what do you think?

OK, I like this color selection (3A4570)  very much, BUT . .  I cannot say how it relates to the standard WMP skin as I do not have that installed.  Looking at the pic on Microsoft's WMP website, it appears a bit closer to the color ToMy used, yet perhaps a little off.
SO, it to me is simply a personal preference and a matter of taste.

Lisa - I'll send a screen pic of MC with this skin color and WMP9 to ToMy00 and ask if he'll post it on this thread. Then you'll see what I mean.

ToMy00,
I have noticed that quite often, when I adjust the volume, I too easily hit Stop in error as they come very close . . . .
If you move the mouse pointer along the volume slider, at the very top edge of the slider, just as your mouse pointer hits or crosses the line of the slider bar you can see the Stop/Pause/etc buttons change to their mouse-over colors. clicking to grab the slider know will often activate the button function above.
Is there any way to seperate the 'mouse-over zone' a bit?

ToMy00.  Can we have a nice cool looking back button for the AW?  Or can you tell me how to do it?  This skin is still the best.

Ok I'm Confused.... Your screen shot looks nothing like what I loaded. Am I missing something??

ie, The icons beside Help on mine are not there.
Your search is ontop of the second pane, mine is on the first....

The skin's filez are hosted here:

If more than 5M were transfered within 3 hours, you won't get access no more... so just wait a while and try again.

I'm playing about with the color of the toolbar text on the location bar (Toolbar for playing now and media library). I think it looks best in white.  The problem is that this same value changes the color of the top level menu (File edit etc) which I think looks best in black (just like the bottom bar).  Is there anyway to change the skin so the top level menu has a different color to the location bar or do we have to have them both the same?

If you love it, then as the creator your 'Artistic License' makes it all that matters.   ;)

JLee, you can easily edit the main XML file to change the background color as you prefer.

Ooops, sorry JLee for underestimating you, I see from the MediaOne skin thread you already knew that   :-/

Any updates to the Windows Media Skin in the works?   Some of the action window stuff doesn't work properly with this skin (beta 11 - Dec 03).
