Chartfinder doesnt seem to work with any of my music from Ireland's greatest export...
I keep getting a message that the tags are too short, but i know that can't be true: the tags have the full song name, the album, the track title, and the artist field all filled out. I assume they're getting filtered becuase the artist field is only 2 characters... is there any way around this?
Thanks

There are a few others Like "K7"
I think I fixed this.
So what version do you have?
-
1.0.17
just d/led it this morning
-
I will look at it soon, it maybe the version I am using I fixed it in.
I orginaly did it to eliminate the error factor

Can Win98SE use it, yet?
-
yeah... i can see how it would help with error reduction. maybe the way to go is to have an option that would allow matches of fields w few characters. The way MC is setup, it would be easy to run Chartfinder once, then dump only those w short tags (so labled by chartfinder) to a playlist and recheck only those with the option enabled. That way, the it would be more likely the short-tagged songs could be looked at more discriminately.
Thanks again

It should, there is another full install package up for download.
someone told me what the problem was and it seems to be the first line of the registry.reg file where it calls for the regedit with version 4 inplace of version 5.
but the program is using a install program now, and not the registry.reg file

well i could also look for "U2" as an Artist Name And If So Allow It To Pass.
maybe i will test what i got here, tomorrow or this week and see if it is fixed in 1.0.18 i think it is. I have been using it a week and I forget.

I just checked 1.0.18 and U2 works.
i also looked up Rick James - Song = "17" it also works.
one thing i was doing before and still am is striping the Artist Name And Song Name of All Numbers and Anything Not "A - Z"
now after striping if it is not at least 2 chrs it will just strip spaces if at that time it is not 2 chrs or more it is left as is.
the reason i do this is some people add junk to the Tags that does not belong there like
Rick James!!!!
(Rick James)
[Rick James]
And in the song name sometimes if you have a dup and the software will add (1), (2) etc... to the file name and on import it may end up in the song name.
Since the title and artist in the database match field are done the same way a match should happen if it is spelled correctly.
but i am playing with this for now and will create a new build soon but this is someting is very rare and have known like i said for sometime, and just tweeked the way it works.
I also found out this week as i said before people like to add onto the title (Remix), (Live) etc... and have noticed that some song names on some files users are using
Song Name / Live
Song Name / Remix
or
Song Name - Live
Song Name - Remix
etc....
now the program will try a match on the full file name and then if "-" or "/" is past chr 4 in the title the program will also try to match on the short title name.
this is basicly done the same way now with
Songname [Remix]
Songname {Remix}
Songname <Remix>
etc..
it would be nice if everything was perfict but that would be too easy.
