Mark,
I recently tried out the Chart Finder plugin with MJ 8.0.382 and ran into some problems.
Here's what happens: I set up the Chart Finder to put #POS# in Custom2, but it goes into the Comment instead.
I set up the Chart Finder to put #YEAR# in Custom3, but it goes into the Comment instead.
No matter where I tell it to put info, it only puts it in Comment.
I tried 1.0.7, 1.0.6, 1.0.2 and they all did this, so the trouble may be with the new build of MJ.
-
It did work at one time
I Will Look At It
I do not have MJ8 loaded any longer.
It Seems Custom1 etc... is no longer in MJ when you go to MJ9 so this option will not be in a newer version of the program.
In MJ9 you Can Add Custom1 But You Can Not Push Info Into Custom1 Using
MJFile.Custom1 = Comment
currently also there is no way to add fields from the SDK for the info to be stored in.
If You Would Like To Test A New OCX Let Me Know I Will Send It To You In E-mail And See If It Fixes The Problem.
Also Note You Must Have This Option Checked
[X] If Found Save Info To Field
Along With The Proper Combos Selected.
-
I Uploaded A New Version That May Help Not Sure.
Things Could Be Changing In Both MJ8 And MJ9 To Effect This So It Could Be A Bit Of Both.
-
You ARE the King!
It turns out that I did not have checked "If Found Save Chart Info To Field". Now that it is checked, it works just fine. I tried it checked and unchecked with 1.0.8 and it only works when checked.
Thanks

hehe
that could be a problem

Hi King,
Same topic heading, different problem.
I have renamed my files to delete "The" from the Artist and moved "The" on the song title to the end so "The Artists - The Song.mp3" is now "Artists - Song, The.mp3".
Here's the problem: The Chart finder ignores all the files that end with ", The.mp3"
I tried to trick the program by copying the "Top 100 Billboard.csv" and adding " The" to all the song titles and adding that to the original "Top 100 Billboard.csv". Now the file is over 2 MB in size and won't load into the program.
Do you have magic trick up your sleeve to fix this? Maybe match on a looser match, or ignore the ", The" at the end of song titles?
Thanks
-
BTW, if you load "Top 100 Billboard.csv" into Excel, it will convert things like "1/2/3" into date format and do other evil things. I think that may have happened to the file supplied.
If you add ".txt" to the filename, "Top 100 Billboard.csv.txt", you can import the file and designate all the fields to be text so the evil conversions don't happen. After saving, remove the ".txt", and you're back in business.
-
Duh... I really have to start trying EVERYTHING before I send in trouble reports.
I took another look at my modified "Top 100 Billboard.csv" and found it started with a blank line. I removed the blank line at the beginning and the carriage return at the end of the last line and tried it again. This time it loaded AND recognized the files that end with ", The".
All is well again!

well this is the first time i read your message, but glad it is working after you worked on it a bit.
there is problems the way i am reading the data, so it is not wise to change the database any chrs like "," or even the " chr will corupt the database i have removed all of them so it will work.
I was thinking about maybe making changes but it works so i left it alone.
i really am not gong to work on it more untill the MJ9 SDK is put out.

1.0.009 Aval Now In Plug-Ins
What's New
1. If Your Running MJ9 It Will Turn Off Some Options That Are Not Compatable With MJ9 (Yet) Due To Changes J River Has Made.
When The SDK Is Released Maybe I Can Re-Activate Some Of Not All Of Them.
2. Enhanced Matching About 6% - 10% better matching
I was thinking some files were not matching because of what some users have added to the song name something like:
Got a Girl - Four Preps.mp3 (Match)
Got a Girl (Extended Version) - Four Preps.mp3 (No Match)
Got a Girl (Mix) - Four Preps.mp3 (No Match)
Basicly What Will Happen Now Is The Program Will Try To Match The File As It Is (Like Normal) If There Is No Match. The Program Will Strip off Anything in Brackets And then Try Again.
Got a Girl (Mix) (Will Now Match)
Got a Girl [Mix] (Will Now Match)
Got a Girl {Mix} (Will Now Match)
3. When A Batch Is Done, The Message Window That Pops Up Now tells You How Many Matches Were Made.
4. No Album Name (Enhanced)
Expanded Key Words: If There Are Key Words In The Album Name Eg "No Album Name", "Unknown" Etc....
Also If The Album Name Is Less Than 3 Chrs It Will Be Looked At As It Has No Album Name.
The Album Name Will Then Be Named As You Have It In The Settings.

King--
I have the same problem of being unable to save position and name info to the comment 2 field. Both options are checked in the setup. Running your latest release 1.0.9 and MJ8 388 under XP Pro. Options to select fields is greyed out. Ideas?

A Slight Bug
I Will Put Out A New Version
Matches Are A Bit Slower But Here Is The Data.
Out Of 1056 mp3's 504 normal matches.
with the added code the program also rendered an extra 88 matches for a total of around 592 mtaches out of 1056 attempts (files).
1.0.010 Is Up For Download

King--
I downloaded 1.0.11 which fixes the field specification bug. Thanks.
But now it doesn't match reverse names as it used to. I have that option selected (checked on) in setup but no matching on Lastname, Firstname.

I will look at it, but I am working on that right now since i changed everything around that was the last part.
I Do have a newer version that I will be testing today or tomorrow to see how it works. the tab 2 will be changed for non-exact matches along with matching rev artist names.
then I will be working on loading the database faster.
