Title: Transferring playlists to other computers
Post by: cfreiman on August 14, 2003, 05:14:28 am
I would like to transfer the playlists I am creating on my computer at work to my laptop at home (back and forth). Do I use the export playlists feature, and if so, I've read msgs on these boards that it is tricky. Can you explain step by step how I do it?

Thank you,
Christine

It's pretty straightforward if the relative paths of your media files between the 2 machines are the same (ie d:\My Music). In that case you would export (MJ>File>Export Playlist) as an m3u or whatever. M3u would be the best bet...if the media directories are not the same relatively (ie d:\My Music on the work machine, c:\My Music on the laptop), then you could use NotePad to search/replace the d:\ with c:\ in the m3u. M3u's are simple text files. Place all your m3u's in a temp directory on your laptop. Now run MJ>Tools>Import Media and use the browse button to go to that temp dir. Start the import. The playlists will show up under Mixes (forgot what branch...just expand the tree, you'll see it). That's it!
