Title: Big jump from WMP9...

I've a large mp3 collection, and am a little fed-up with WMP taking ages to come to life once I click Media Library. Hence I am trying out some new software! It seems this one might be ideal - few frills, good performance. But there are some point about WMP that I really rather like. Namely:

1) Database alpha management. Namely ignoring "A" and "The" at the start of song/album/artist names. I know it is possible to write "Beatles, the" but it looks a bit ugly, and it'll take a while to change everything!

2) Scanning my mp3 drive for new files. I'm currently digitising my vinyl and saving the files to disc. I would rather not have to manually add these.

I know this doesn't help you with MJ8, but MC9 has a lot of plugins available for it. One of these (written by KingSparta) will rearrange your Artists so that The is at the end. I don't know if it handles "A" yet, but I'm sure KingSparta could add that if you ask him nicely.

You can tell MC to import media and have it search an entire drive at a time if you want. I can't remember where in MJ8 it is exactly, but in MC9, it's under File->Library

Thanks so much! Is MC9 a better piece of software than MJ8? I'm looking for something that's reliable. Doesn't have to be flash. Just solid!

I have a program that does that, and i think J river did something recently to add this option in MC9.1
