Title: unexpected shutdown
Post by: cubedco on October 19, 2003, 07:03:00 pm
don't get me wrong, im a big fan of MC but lately, particularly the latest betas within the last 2-3 weeks... my MC will shut down w/out notice... w/out a bug report.

the instance that just occured (triggered me to post on here) went something like this:

  - i've been listening to some music (random) for ~10 minutes
  - when i clicked on IE shortcut, MC just shut down -- no error message.

this happens all too often... sometimes i'll just be browsing or using photoshop and wala, no music. :(

computer specs:

amd 2000+
1gig ddr333
audigy 2 plat ex
win xp sp1

help :(

Now that doof said Plug-ins, thats what was causing my problems

If Your Using PlayingNow Uninstall it look in Windows Add& Remove and make sure it is removed.

if that fixes the problem you can try to reinstall it.

I think i Played this song like 30+ times today

Listening to: 'Rock Wit U (Aww Baby)' from 'Rock With U' by 'Ashanti' on Media Center 9.1

it's funny that you mentioned PlayingNow -- for its installed but I believe i removed it. Maybe some fragments are causing the problem...

thanks -- i'll look into it tonight and give you some info. no, my XP error report is turned on.

I'm now getting this problem.  :( OH NOES!!!

In my case it's restarting the computer. A little worse than what you've got.

If opening IE shuts down MC or kills the computer, something else is wrong.  MC couldn't do that.

Did you check the thread on stability problems that talked about the plugin called PlayingNow?  Are you using the plug-in?  The name changed and left two entries in the registry.

Here's the thread:
