Visualizations for AAC (.m4p, .m4a) files are not plugged in yet, right??
Will they be??

I tried to install .284 but I got this
"Internet Explorer Warning. IE 5.0 or above is needed"
Download or Quit.
I have IE 6.0.2800 so I choose to Quit.

JimH pulled the build....looks like they may have already found that.

So I see.

That's not a problem we've seen. Did anyone else see it?

Fixed -- it was an issue with non-US locales.

No I did not get this error. but the build does seem to be a bit more stable then 82&83
DFX still crashes MC.
and the Filename Bug still exist.

MAJOR BUG: MC is auto changing tags to other values.
This is not a good sign. Just by clicking on a thumbnail image, the tag is being changed.
No plugins are running. Using multiple columns (10), 3 are rating, width, height. Rating is being changed just be clicking once on the thumbnail preview. Panes are updating per click which isn't supposed to happen per the Slow down thread.
This isn't some rare occurence. It's happening all the time.
update: happens in playing now also so it's not the panes.

I could install build 281, but the installer crashed in build 283. Didn't get a chance to try 284 before it was pulled.

It's if the rating column is the first column. It'll be fixed next build.
Panes are updating per click which isn't supposed to happen per the Slow down thread.
Can you give more details? On double-click to play, it won't update the panes anymore. Just clicking around in a list shouldn't cause updates either. (unless tag info is changing because of the above bug)
-
I have also the issue problem on W2K SP4 French with IE6 and Mozilla.
-
I do infact have my rating column as the first one so you're probably right. And yes, the rating column was updating on click so you're probably right on that one two.

Saving Tags:
If I import files, the tag that's inside the file doesn't get imported. I can understand this because you don't know exactly what the tag is (format).
However, when I make new fields in MC, and have MC update it's library to import the tags (already in the files), MC will get the information, ask to update the library, and THEN update the tags again. I think it's because MC thinks they are new fields that haven't been written to the tag?
It shouldn't have to update the tags when it just read the tags and updated the library.
Does this sound like it's performing right or is it a bug?

I still have 283 (since 284 was pulled) and I can't play AAC files (m4a.) When I click on one, the play bar doesn't advance and I hear nothing (even though I get the little play symbol next to the actual file.) I did change the "media type" tag to audio.
What am I missing? Is there something else I need to do? Am I missing a codec or something? I'm using W2K.
Thanks,
Larry

This is a 9.1.283 bug:
i have had no problems playing files encoded to AAC in iTunes or files purchased from the iTunes music store through Media Center...except...when i tried this through a connection to media server. BAD things happen then! I get a quicktime username/password prompt...hundreds of them...i cannot actually fill it in because they keep appearing and i have to press stop within Media Center. This then causes Media Center to crash. This is over the internet. Other files play flawlessly.
Here is the system info for the server PC:
