Title: Region-free DVD playback on MC9 - works
Post by: gpvillamil on October 27, 2003, 07:42:33 pm
You'll be pleased to know that DVDIdle v3.0 (http://www.dvdidle.com/) works perfectly with MC9.

This utility caches your DVDs to RAM or to HD, allowing the DVD drive to only run for 10 minutes during playback of a typical movie. Saves wear & tear, laptop batteries, and runs silent. As a side effect, it removes regional coding and the "FBI" warning.

Are you takling about DVD Idle Pro... which is DVD Region Free + DVD Idle?

I think that the caching could be quite interesting.  I'm looking to rip my DVDs and play them back with MC.  It works, but there are a few kinks.  I'm working up a post now.

Yep, that's what I meant - DVD Idle Pro. Incidentally, one of the things DVD Idle Pro does is that it makes the DVD visible as a drive, so you can copy the VOB files, etc. I think a lot of people then re-encode as MPEG4 to save space.
