Title: Streaming ogg support?
Post by: Wile E. One on November 03, 2003, 09:06:05 pm
I'd like to stream a radio station that I used to listen to (before I moved away from that city), but the format they use is streaming ogg (http://stream.theq.fm:8000/theq-64.ogg (http://stream.theq.fm:8000/theq-64.ogg)).

It would seem that MC doesn't support this.... because it doesn't work. Could this be added to MC's roster of supported filetypes, please?

Apparently Winamp 2, Sonique, and Foobar 2000 play this stream... but I'd rather not need to install and use any of these software products.

Thanks in advance.  :)

Short term: You could check out Jorbis (http://www.jcraft.com/jorbis/), which is a Java based applet (JRE 1.3 or greater req'd). Having MC handle it would be much nicer...fer sure.

10-27

edit: Jorbis doesn't handle your link correctly (at least through FireBird here). May be a MIME type thingy. This post is more along the lines of "what's out there".

Works good through FB here.... thanks for the link.

It would definitely be nice if MC handled this though.
