hi,
if i want to use itunes and mc 9 there is a problem with the media library. itunes has a maximum filename length which cannot be turned off. i would like that importing sonds in itunes or mc 9 creates the same file structure. can i configure mc 9 to a mximum filename length?

I would love to be able to control the legth of individual parts of the file names that I construct. I have quite a few classical albums that create filenames that are too long... and/or truncate the names at places that don't make much sense, I'd rather have some control over it.
i.e. when setting up the filename, have an optional value:
Dir: [Album Artist (auto) 20]\[Album 20] ~ [Date (year)] ~ [Genre 12]
File Name: [Track #] ~ [Name 30] ~ [Artist 20]
where the values in the brackets would be used to truncate the file names. Ideally, they would be used only when the file names went over a max length, which optionally could be set.

Kiwi - go see my 'Field Control' thread over in the plugin forum.
Post this in there to remind me and I'll try add it into the plugin :)

Saw it earlier and posted other stuff... didn't even think about this at the time. It would be an extremely cool feature.

Not at this time, but this can be added in the future.

Awesome!
When you do implement it, it would also be great to have something that checked total path name+file name length. I don't know whether it has been fixed, because I haven't dared to try playing with it. When I "renamed from tags" some of my files, and it was over the network, the file names were too long and just got truncated... the problem was that the extenstion got truncated. It may be something that's already been fixed though.
