Title: Can Media Server update Tag Info.
Post by: Skeet on November 08, 2003, 05:51:23 am
I use Media server to stream my collection over my home wireless network. Is there any way that info such as number of plays or last played can be fed back to Media Center in the same way that the Ipod data does. This would be really usefull so that it could count plays wherever I listen to them.

Quite a few of us keep asking for this. Sounds like JRiver might build it into a future version. Sounds like it's a fairly big task, though.

Been keen for this feature since I first started using MJ8...

Keep asking, I'm sure we'll get it one day!

It definitely has my vote .. I've asked forthis feature functionality a few times in the past ..
Im only requesting # of Plays be updated when played via the Media Server ..

I guess they've got bigger fish to fry. But it seems silly that my Ipod can record when I listen to something on the bus, but Media Center can't in the room next door.

Anyone who'd find this usefull post here and perhaps it'll shift up the priority list.

Count me in...

I think the primary issue is that MC doesn't provide multi-user/concurrent-access database functionality.  If it did, Media Server ability to update tag info should be easy enough to implement.

Count me in for supporting this.

I'd also love the ability to rate my songs using  a media server client.
