Title: Flac support soon?
Post by: mrwul on November 09, 2003, 12:54:07 pm
Will there be support for FLAC soon ? Noticed more regular use is made of FLAC files in the classic-bin-groups. Must use e.g. dBpowerAMP Music Converter  to convert those from flac to mp3. Maybe this has been discussed earlier, I don't know.

I plan on writing one...using JRiver Input Plugin SDK. I'm just familiarizing myself with the code at this stage. I should have something by year end. What I've been doin is playing my flac's via WinAmp (to make sure they're good rips), then converting them (via OggDropXPd) for MC to play.

Great, I'll be looking forward to this. It's possible to play flac in MC9 using the WinAmp plug-in, but the support is only partial.

King...my brother...why for doubt thee?

I'll put some proof in your pudding. Just look for ~10,000 posts in the plugins forum titled "How do I ....?" and "This module says ...., what the hell does it mean?" over the next couple weeks as I tear the SDK apart. I will reach the target date (1/1/04)...hell or high water. I'll save the hot air that I have for hand warming and defrosting windshields...not spreading false hopes.

FLAC support would be excellent.  Especially since it appears Monkey's Audio isn't being accepted by commercial hardware creators.

Please email me when it's available.  There could be a special something (though little, but sumthin nevertheless) in it for you :)
