Sorry for another off topic post (we seem to have had a number lately).
I was wondering what people are using for bookmark managers.
Some of the features that I'm looking for are:
- Manage FB/Moz bookmarks & IE Favorites
- Synchronize Two computer's bookmarks
- Clean user interface (organizing has to be easy, otherwise it doesn't get done.)
- Ideally free, but again, I'm not adverse to shareware/commercial if it does work better.
- Sync could take place via a web site, ftp or just local network connection.
- I'd like to be able to sync the FB bookmarks with FB on linux
Now, I understand that many programs will do some but not all of these. Sync'ing between IE and FB is less important to me, than working with FB and sycn'ing between two machines.
What are people's experiences with these programs?
Right now, I bookmark things (and even try to throw them into folders, however, I often find it's easier to just do searches on google.)
Thanks,
kiwi

Only one truly powerful app out there--URL Manager Pro.
Check out:
http://www.url-manager.com
Firebird support is coming and I'm told that it supports the bookmark XML language for cross-platform syncing.
Basically, you keep all your bookmarks in this program. It provides either a shared menu in internet applications, or a global menu that is system-wide (or both, but they are converging). Set your browser of the week/day/hour in the preferences and all your bookmarks will open in that browser. It's tab-aware and can open all bookmarks in a given folder in a single tabbed window.
Syncing is the hardest to come about, but one feature request that has been bandied about is synching via .Mac's iDisk (WebDAV protocol).
I've been using it for years and hop around routinely between 5-6 different browsers with nary a hitch.
Best,
Brad

Sounds good. Is there a Windows equivalent?

Try BookmarkSync. It has recently gone open source: http://sourceforge.net/projects/bookmarksync/

That looks like it might just be the ticket.
I'm going to have to setup the server and see how it goes.

I've also found a program called "the brain" for organizing links.
http://www.thebrain.com (http://www.thebrain.com)
It has some potential, but integration is going to be the issue.
It could be very cool. There are a few features that they talk about in the "pro" version that I'm not sure exist in the personal edition, and/or how to get to them if they do.
