Title: Remote library consolidation
Post by: MadMerv on November 12, 2003, 10:33:21 am
Another quickie related to my last post,
there is no obvious way to consolidate 2 databases on 2 machines - unless I am missing something.
ie, the remote client links to the server, checks the server library against it's own, and allows the moving/copying of media files so that both machines have an up to date database.
This is for entirely legit reasons -  I keep an exact working copy of MadMervs machine back at my place so I can quickly replicate and deal with tech support issues generally.  I've done the same with Media Centre - installed the same on both machines.  I'm not interested in ripping mp3's from his to mine as a regular proposition but when I'm fiddling around and tidying his machine up it would be handy to have a facility for doing this.....
I'm probably asking for too much but, what the hell, we can but try...

Thanks in anticipation
