I just installed XP on a new system, and when I installed the newest iPod Updater, it didn't install the "iPod Manager" like the last install did. Do I need this program for anything? It had two settings that seem like they may be needed: "enable firewire drive" (or something like that) as well as the ability to turn OFF the auto run capability (so that nothing would automatically run when the iPod was plugged in.)
What's the scoop on this?
Thanks,
Larry

It is NOT needed. It is evil incarnate. :D
Actually, the Enable Disk Mode was a farce. Windows by default will enable disk mode (i.e. assign a drive letter to it), what iPod Manager did was turn this OFF. So, when you installled iPod manager you had to uncheck this "feature" to let your iPod show up as a drive--something that would have happened normally if you'd never installed iPod Manager.
The only other thing is the auto-run. I think you can fix that by adding a file to the iPod's root directory..it'll autostart MC9 (I think). I'll check in the 'lounge.
