Title: MC9 reading genre tags wrong?
Post by: Nolonemo on November 15, 2003, 02:05:47 pm
Before I import an album into MC9, I use MP3 Tag Tools 1.2 to check/edit the tags.  I only edit the ID 3v2.x tags.  I make sure all basic tags (title, artist, album, track, genre) are filled in the way I want.  However, after importing, some of the genres show up differently in MC9 library view to what I edited them to be in Tag Tools, so I have to re-edit them in MC9.  Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks

if you only edited the id3v2 tags then the file has another tag for ID3v1.1 and MC9 may be reading it first.

you could try removing the id3v1.1 tag and re-import and see if this helps.

Thanks, that had occurred to me, so I edited a track in MP3 Tag Tools so the ID3v1.1 and ID3v2.x genre fields were different.  MC9 read the genre from the ID3v2.x tag.  That's why I'm so perplexed now.  I thought I just could ignore the ID3v1.1 tags.

It's no big deal to fix the tag in MC9, but I'm curious about what's happening.

well it could also be that all tagers may not save all the tags correctly to include the genre tag.

Hummm, interesting idea, I'll check on the tags with another tagger than Tag Tools.
