I really like Media Center. I've been using Real Jukebox, and won't miss it for various reasons, but it would let me highlight multiple rows and assign genre, or album, or whatever, to all records at one swoop. I don't see a way to do that in Media Center. Is there a way, and if so, how?

You can use "tagging mode" for quickly tagging batches of files but you can also tag multiple files at once just by selecting those files and using the Action Window -> File Properties -> Tag Info.

Listening to: 'If It Was Cool' from 'U Turn [Import HDCD] (CD 1 of 3)' by 'Brian McKnight' on Media Center 9.1

Or just click the values you want to edit (multi-select works) and pick "Edit Selected Item" to in-place edit. (F2 / right-click)

Thanks, I was just doing that. I don't know how I missed it, but I went back with some records to actually work on and it was not so hard to find.
Well laid out feature, better than Real Jukebox.

OR..
You can use tree and pane view to drag and drop whole genre's, albums, or whatever.
Example:
You have an album by an artist called "Louis Armstrong and the Texas Trio". But you want to have it show with all the other Louis Armstrong songs and albums. Just grab the album (I use album view quite a bit) and drop it on the artist name Louis Armstrong...voilla!
