Title: Library Perofrmance and Creative Zen NX performance
Post by: quentinjs on November 24, 2003, 12:32:36 pm
I have been testing the Music Match system, and the Creatrvie solution as well MediaJukeBox.

A couple of my biggest problems with the Media Jukebox are related to performance.  If I ask for the library to update, it takes for ever.  I am running my library off one machine and the tool off another.

Now this is some what tolerable, but when it comes to using the player (Zen NX)  its amazing how slow the performance is.  Each step to show the lZen list to deleting files, to selecting files to put on the Zen,, to actually updating the Zen is horrible.  It is excruciating slow, and there are many spots there shouldn't be such a slow response.  It is actually so bad that I can't even use this feature.  The Creative tool should be examined to see how this can actually be a pleasant experience to do.

Cheers
Quentin

You should really move on to MC 9.1, which is in an active development stage and handles external hardware such as yours much better.

Is MC 9 an extension of MJ, or is it a totally different type pf product.  I thought it was more a control centre, something I really didn't need.

That being said, is MJ going to be depricated in favour of MC 9?

That has already been done. You should give MC a whirl (consider it a hyper MJ). Backup your license and library, then DL and install latest MC from here...

You should uninstall MJ first. MC will be a 30 day trial until you buy. If you don't like it (but you will), then reinstall MJ and restore your license/library.

Title: MC 9.1

Well MC does look really nice... or I should say did.  After installing, I upgraded my Portable NX driver, and shortly after that the MC app froze, now when restarting MC, it shows the splash screen, it disapears, then a few moments later I hear a beep, and that is all she wrote.  I even tried reinstalling MC 9.1

I guess I'm using up my 30 day trial with a broken product.....  :(

Well seeing as I installed MC 9.1 about 3 hours before.... I still would like to have both the new drivers for the NX and MC 9.1 working together in happy matrimony.

quentinjs,

Are you saying MC locks up as soon as the program starts to open and before you get to click on 'Nomad '? If so, it is unlikely this has anything to do with the drivers or your NX. What version of MC did you install? Try a full uninstall and reinstall of 9.1.313.

I start MC, it shows splash screen, and then it goes away... and never see the main app screen.

When was 313 released?  As I would have installed the version from about Nov 24/25 th.

I did try a re-install... but did not uninstall last time.

313 was released on the November 26th.  Could you try the uninstall as well?
