Title: Please, please, move column views out of the registry!
Post by: Jaguu on November 25, 2003, 06:43:47 am
Hi J River,

Because the scanner was not working any longer with MC9.1 I did an uninstall of MC9.1 (removed registry entries!) and installed MC9.1 again.

Well, all column view settings are gone and the default column views were loaded again. It takes a long time to define column views the way I want them and it's a real time consuming job that needs to be done again.

Please, please, move column view settings out of the registry into a data file as you have done with the View Schmes! Thank you!

Ideally what would be AMAZING is if we could have all the settings etc in a file so we can just backup ALL our MC settings before a format etc.

Is there ONE registry path that we can backup?

Here's the key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Jukebox\View Info

Future versions may store settings in the data directory.

Nice one matt!!

Any way we could specify where the data dir is?

That way I could set it to my D drive with all 'My Documents' and leave the C PURELY as I want it - a totally disposable drive with just the OS and program files that I can wipe as soon as anything goes wrong without having to worry about losing settings.

(Dont even mind a reg value as a means of doing this!)
