Hi,
I just wanted to express my satisfaction with the image-functionality build into MC9.
It's simply amazing how many possibilities I have to categorize and view my images. You definitly have to advertise these functions more, so that people realize they are there and _very_ good. Better than anything I have found so far.
Very well done people, thanks very much.
Mirko
P.S. If you want some ideas for improving the image-things: Image searching by picture - not words ("Ähnlichkeitssuche").
-
Thanks very much, Mirko.
Search by image is a nice idea.
-
Now for something completely different.
Here's a new page. It's a little understated but use your imagination.
http://www.jriver.com/phlog/
Now try this:
Select up to 5 photos (no more, please) and right click on them.
Now choose "send to" and "e-mail recipient".
Important! -- resize them to "custom" 320x240. Bigger images will be deleted from our server.
Enter this address, substituting your login name here for [username].
phlog-[username]@jriver.com
If you have a cell phone with a camera, you can also do it from your cell phone.
Then revisit the page at the top of this message.
-
If this is working the following way it will be a usefull feature for me: MC gets eMail from a specific account and automatically imports the picture from that email.
Wow - so I can send my picture from vacation (mobile phone camera) to MC :-)
Mirko
P.S. Even if it does not work that way, nice idea.
-
Uploading photos by e-mail instead of FTP... pretty cool. What proggy does this? Nothing to do with MC, I take it.
Scott-

Bob and I wrote it.
I improved the page generation so that it is sorted by date.
Anyone else (besides me) using a cell phone to do this?

You're correct. That's what it does.
[edit: It's our server that receives the e-mail and processes it, not MC.]
-
Hold on... the image is *automatically* IMPORTED into MC?
Next I'll learn that the the webpage is generated *automatically* by... MC?
Scott-
P.S. If these two questions are answered in the affirmative, this my smile just may break my face.
-
Would MC be checking our incoming e-mails and then automatically insert any e-mails it found with a specific subject line and strip the pictures out of them and insert them into MC?
I presume it'd have to be the subject rather than e-mail address as most people only have one e-mail account not catch all addresses.
-

Not quite.
Our web server, running UNIX, is building the web page automatically. It's built from the images that have been stripped from e-mail to a phlog... e-mail account.
We could add this to MC, but it would be tricky because you don't want spam images imported.
-
the subject of the e-mail is now used as a caption
j
-
Hä?
You just told me, that "that's exactly what it does" - but if MC doesn't import images from an email-adress, how does it do exactly that?
Man - maybe it's too late :-)
Mirko
-
From beginning to end:
1. User sends e-mail with jpg attached from cell phone or PC to phlog[something]@jriver.com .
2. Mail is received by phlog "daemon" and processed to extract the jpg
3. jpg file is added to web page under section called [something]
Simple?
-
Yes simple.
Then I would like to suggest a feature for MC: Grab pictures from a special account automatically adding it to the database.
*and gone* 8)

Any more pictures? Any cell phones with cameras? Any news to share?

Yes. Just send a picture done with the shap gx20 - okay, you can easily see that my monitor needs an update.

Hey, guys... I'm going to try and deep-fry a turkey today. If it works out, I'll e-mail a picture. If you don't see it by 4:00pm PST, please call the fire department and send them to my house - it's probably burning down from the oil fire.

I'm going to try and deep-fry a turkey today.
Don't do it in or near the house
-
Nice,
Just uploaded some pics and understood that the mail subject appears under the picture.
C.
-
Scott - still alive? Should we be calling the fire department?
CMagic - I fixed the long subjects in your pictures. If you want to, send me an e-mail or an interact message with the subjects you want, and I'll add them in.
The rest of y'all: where's the pics? My phone's being fussy. I'm on a trial "all you can send" program, and I think they got tired of me sending a lot. I'm getting communication errors.

Just keep a box of baking soda (and beer-for sanity reasons) handy. All should be well for you then.

It worked quite well... I had a problem with too much oil - I had to remove about two liters - but it tasted great!
