Title: DVD help
Post by: mikbau on November 26, 2003, 01:27:20 pm
Hey Guys~
I have an MC9/General DVD issue

I have an IBM thinkpad R32 laptop with a CD/DVD drive. I know that previously, the drive had no issues with DVDs, but it's been a while since I tried to play one.

Now when I put in a DVD, nothing happens - MC9 doesn't see it, Explorer doesn't see it, WinDVD doesn't see it. When I look atdevice manager, it's listed as an "unknown" device, but still has the region tab for the DVD decoder (but doesn't let me change it)

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling/updating the driver to no avail. No matter what I do, I can't see any DVD I put in the drive (have tried several) I've scoured the net and not found a solution. I even ran PC Doctor's DVD drive test and it fails on the first test.

I'm hoping that someone has seen this before, and my drive isn't t/u

(Fprgpt to mention I'm running XP with all the latest service packs, with the exception of the new Windows Media Player)

thanks much
Mike

There's no chance that you're out of Region changes and the DVD(s) you're trying has a different region? Otherwise I would recommend reinstalling WinDVD.
