Title: best remote control for MC9?

I'm getting the strange feeling that MC9 is moving into a difficult space - it's not quite sophisticated enough for professional applications, but *way* too complicated for even quite knowledgeable home users - ie. Girder, mjextman, smartlists, etc.

By providing a wealth of built in smartlists new users can either just use the built in ones or use them as examples for setting up their own.

Post by: jleerigby on November 28, 2003, 02:01:37 am: Yes - IRMAN from evation.com is a perfect out of the box solution but it's not USB, it's serial and it doesn't transmit IR signals out, it's only an IR receiver.

However, it works perfectly for me and was basically plug and play - no drivers or software. I just enabled the IRMAN plug-in within MC and off I went. Now I'm using Girder though which is much more powerful and I found it pretty easy to set up using the supplied .gml file in the extras directory in MC.
