Is there a way to use a computer with MC to control audio feeds to a whole house stereo system? I do have a home network that feeds to the stereo area, but the computer is upstairs and the stereo is in the basement.
Any ideas?

Surely...
There's many ways to do it, but here's a quick overview.
You could run a SP/DIF cable (coax or fiber) from the computer to the amp. This assumes your soundcard & amp have an SP/DIF connection (or you have an external DAC). You could also use Transmit/Receive towers for audio/video (they should be pretty decent nowadays). For control, get a ATI Remote Wonder (it is UHF, not IR) or equiv, DL and install Girder, then use the Girder scripts provided with MC. If you do a forum search on some of the keywords mentioned (ie Girder), your cup will runneth over with info.
