Title: File Image Files
Post by: nila on November 30, 2003, 06:32:21 am
Hey :)

I know this was discussed a lot previously but I thought I'd mention it again now as it's starting to effect me a lot with this new system I'm setting up.

MC saves all the files Image Art in it's own folder.
Explorer and ever more increasingly, programs are all starting to use Folder.jpg as the de-facto standard for looking for cover art for albums.

I have come accross a LOT of programs that look here as the first port of call when trying to find cover art.

Could MC not be set up to use this as the location for it's cover art for files unless it is not possible (more than one album sharing a folder).
In cases such as these it would do it the way it does now. When it can however though it will just use the Folder.jpg as the cover?

I know there are several plugins that can do this but they all require user interaction to work. I'm trying to set up MC on a system purely as an entertainment center which means as little interaction as possible.

Having it do this would be a BIG step in this direction.

Any chance of this happening? I hope so :)

Thanks,

If you save an image in the folder for the album, MC will find it.   This includes folder.jpg.

Is that what you need?

More the oposite.

Dont want MC to find the image - I want it to save the image as the Folder.jpg as the default for all images for MC instead of C:\program files\j. river\Media Center

Which is pretty much specific purely to MC and wont be of any use to any other programs :(

Nila,

I think you can do this now if you want. All my C.A. is in a completely different folder then MC. It will allow you to store images associated with albums anywhere. You just have to tell it where.

Yeah - I dont want ALL my art in one folder though.

I want each art stored with the album it's associated with as Folder.jpg

Most people have their albums organised in folders so it seems logical that where possible, it's stored as Folder.jpg instead of in one centralised folder.

It makes it work better with other programs :)
