Title: Burn Data CD Help
Post by: wpbmusic on November 30, 2003, 11:10:17 pm
When burning a data CD no matter what order I rearrange the files, it always comes out in alphabetical order.  I did click on update order but that does nothing.  What am I doing wtong???

NOTHING

Unlike a redbook cd - regular cd- you cannot arrange tracks as you like on a mp3 cd.

Windows read it in alphabetic order.

You can get the tracks in the order you want, then choose "CD/DVD file naming" from the CD burning Options menu. Now choose "Custom" and checkmark the "Prefix the list order to the CD filename" option. Now when the CD is burned, all filenames on the CD will start with the list order (like "01 -", "02 -", etc.) so that the alphabetical order will equal your desired list order.
Does that make sense?

WAHOOOOOOO !

I forgot about it -You told me 2 months ago.
I understand this working if you burn a playlist.

If you want to burn only Artists/album folders and you want to have the albums in the order you put them  in the burn project , it workd as well?
Or to put artists in a special order

If yes , do the songs keept they song numbers inside the album?
Or all songs will get number from 1 up to 50 in a row?

First, if your player can handle a playlist, MC burns a playlist.m3u file in the root directory with the exact order of the tracks you see in the burn track listing.
Otherwise (without using playlist.m3u file), most players will play the folders in alpha order, then the files within them in alpha order. MC can get the files in your desired order by prefixing the playlist order number, but it can't automatically get your folders in the order your want them. But, you can manually rename the folders (select in the tree and press F2) so that the player will play them in your desired order.

For example, you have these folders to be burned:

1. "Warren Zevon"
2. "Bob Marley"
3. "Bob Dylan"
4. "Amadeus Mozart"

If you want them burned (and played) in the order above, you could rename the folders (using F2) like this:

1. "01 - Warren Zevon"
2. "02 - Bob Marley"
3. "03 - Bob Dylan"
4. "04 - Amadeus Mozart"
