Title: About genre
Post by: Fred_Evans on December 10, 2002, 09:40:37 am
Hello there!!
could someone perhaps point me to somewhere where I could learn a bit about genre and music cataloging in general-- I would like to use MJ library, playlists and organizing capabilities more but dont have the basic knowledge about how to select playlists so that the result is "logical" and correctly matched .

Here's a rather comprehensive list of different genres:

I resist the idea that there are 'correct' genres at all. Many of them are just vague phrases generated by music reviewers and critics. I would suggest learning about MJ's features by reading the help file, experimenting, and asking questions in these forums. Then categorize and organize your music any way that pleases you. Don't agree with the genre assigned to some files? Change it. Make up your own genres just by typing them into the Genre field of the File Properties window.
