Title: Convert Optoin Grayed Out
Post by: rickeyjt on December 02, 2003, 04:00:35 pm
I Can get the library convert tool with MC9 v9.1.305 on my notebook.  However on my desktop pc both convert and analyze are grayed out.  I can't figure out what to do to get them working.  MP3 plugins are installed.

DL and install latest build (313) from thread at or near the top of the main MC forum. See if that fixes problem.

Where do you see the convert and analyze options grayed out? Can you right-click on a track and go to "Library tools/Convert Format"?

They are grayed out both places.  That is, the right-click menu tools/library tools and the main main tools/library tools.

This machine does look at the notebook mc9 server but I have also tried converting files on the local machine too and still grayed out.

BTW, I have two desktops reading the notebook mc9 server and they both cannot convert/analyze.

Now, I did shutdown the notebook server and then scanned the local hard drive on the desktop for songs.  And convert/analyze is no longer grayed out.  Is this one of these features, like others, that does not work when reading the mc9 server machine?

You can't convert files on a remote PC that is running Media Server.  Is this what you mean?

Right.

"one of these features, like others, that does not work when reading the mc9 server machine"

As long as I know it's the program functioning as designed.  Hopefully they will redesign it to include conversion and add the ability to manage playlists remotely as well.
