Title: Read track failed. Failed to extract digital audio.
Post by: pocket on December 02, 2003, 11:46:57 pm
That's the error I get when attempting to rip my newest Bob Marley CD (Disk 2 of Songs of Freedom, song "Guava Jelly", track 5).  I ripped my entire CD collection without ever getting this error.  Furthermore, all the tracks of the CD rip fine except that one!  I even tried an analog rip of it, and it doesn't work (static).  The track plays just fine under normal CD play and in my CD player.

Any ideas?  This seems really odd.  After much avail, I downloaded the update to 9.1.313 and it does the same thing.

Please assist....and update Web Media! [you know I couldn't let it slide ;)]

Occasionally I experience the same. Don't know what causes this!  :-\

No dirt or scratches on that track? Do you have another CD/DVD drive you could try ripping it with? By "..under normal CD play.." do you mean you can play the track in MC? That would be strange.

Yes.  The track plays just fine, in MediaCenter and Everything else.
It is a factory brand new CD (Just out of the case and in the drive) so I know it's clean (I looked at it too!).  Unfortunately I don't have another CD drive to rip from.

Things I've tried:
- Ejecting and re inserting the CD (=nothing, but occasionally hangs Mediacenter?)
- Ripping tracks before and after (=other tracks rip fine)
- Turning off and on the 'puter (=Nothing)
- Closing and reopening mediacenter (=Nothing)
- Updating media center (=nothing)
- Ripping other cd's (=works just fine)
- Analog encoding (=static)
