hi all. Have a Biig problem. I have had to reinstall a new hard drive but kept a .exe copy of MJ 8.0 plus the registration key on a backup.
MJ install fine but not the key, just says error installing key. I have also tried the restore licence from the internet but "page not available"
I purchased on 17th September and have a copy of the "purchase complete" internet receipt with a 30 digit registration key but there is nowhere I can input this. ?
Can anyone help as I simply cannot afford to lose this player after falling in love!!

Make sure you have a recent version of MJ. Downloading the latest would be best.

still works fine for me
maybe he should refresh his browser pages and Also Use IE 5.5 or higher if he is not.

It could be an issue with https. Even a minimum of IE 5.0 should work (was the first version to have 128 bit encryption as a standard feature...or was that 5.01?). Any late model browser should work (FireBird, Opera, Moz, NS, etc).

Hi again. What a pain I am.
I have IE6, My IE2, Opera, Avant and still it will not work. Is it something to do with active X?

Hi, I also have a registration key issue. I have been able to download the install key, but Media Jukebox still gives the same error:
"Error installing Media Jukebox license:
Failed extracting license from file."
I have the software installed on this computer, and only this computer. Since I bought the full version last year (v. 8.0.289), I have had to refresh the registration key at least 8 times! I do not have a trial version, but that's the initial message I get every time I try to rip. None of my keys worked this time, and I followed the link to the restore page. I also asked for an e-mail version, which I received. I've double-clicked the files, I've gone into the program and chosen the "restore license" option - all to no avail.
One of the [many] times I tried this I got the same "Error installing..." message followed by "OK" on the second line, but still no ripping.
HELP! ?

As JimH Stated you need to have the latest version Of MJ8
if you also look at the MJ8 history you will see there was a Bug in MJ8 that would generate an error when trying to re-register.
8.0.400 is aval for download.

I have already installed the update to 8.0.4 - the other version was the first version I bought. I tried again a few minutes ago (with a clean install), no soap. Is there a registry key that I can massage or delete (then repopulate with another installation)? I like the software but I don't feel like paying for it again (and again...).
Color me perplexed :-\

Hi all ;D
Happy bunny Angela had a brainwave which may help others.
Your were correct that the 's' in https was a problem. I disabled my firewall (Norton) then went to restore my media jukebox V 8.0.4licence from the help menue in jukebox and selected "from the internet"
I had obviously to input the 25 character registration number that I received when I purchased and walla I am active again.
I also received by E Mail another registration key that I can save.
Thanks for your help and hope this may help another user for this great product.

That's groovy, Angela...glad your up & running.

Me too. Any suggestions? I'm running XP, and I definitely have 8.0.4. Frustrating.

Hopefully you and imdtd didn't run out of restores (10 per year increment, starting at the license purchase date).
Here's some suggestions (in no particular order)...
1) Run Windows Update and install all the critical updates
2) Clear out your Temporary Internet Files dir (IE>Tools>Internet Options>General (tab))
3) Temporarily disable any firewall/anti-virus software during MJ uninstall/reinstall
4) Make sure your logged in as a user from the Administrators group during uninstall/reinstall
5) Clear out temporary files directory (mine is c:\temp) - for paths (temp & tmp) see...
Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>Advanced (tab)>Environment variables
6) Use IE to DL install key (or any internet function while your resolving this problem)
After doing all the above, uninstall MJ...reboot...reinstall MJ...restore your license.

OK, that was easy enough, I was using Firebird instead of IE - problem solved, thanks for the tip!
