Post by: Matt on December 04, 2003, 03:43:23 pm
Media Center 10.0.9 beta is available.

This is a beta.  Avoid this if problems, changes, or crashes will upset you.

The latest known stable version of 9.1 is here:
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/download.html

Please check the license and price thread before you download:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=17336

The latest beta of 10 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter10009.exe

1. NEW: Added "Media Mode" system.

2. Changed: Text displayed for Enter key (in remote control learning for example) changed from Return to Enter.

Make sure you try hitting the Media Mode buttons with Media Library expanded.

Geez Jim, you really meant it when you said "shortly"   ;D

Really liking the Media Mode idea....I was actually gonna suggest something like this, along the lines of Outlook 2003's navigation pane (along the left of the Outlook screen). This is sorta like that but with small buttons.

I noticed a bug: I entered Tagging Mode, changed an artist, then left tagging mode, then re-entered tagging mode and changed the artist back, and the tag didn't change back (the checkbox would check, but the list view in the bottom pane wouldn't match). However, if you leave the view scheme and come back, it does change. It looks like it's just not refreshing. EDIT: change that, it's not refreshing at all, even if you leave and come back. you have to do F2 to change it back.

My other suggestion is to have the "New Artist" and "New Album" entries in brackets or parentheses, to make them stand out from the legitmate entries a little more.

I'm loving the ideas here in v.10....looking great

Build doesn't work for me.

When I install it then run it it tells me my 30 day evaluation has expired.

There is a problem with this version honoring some V8 licenses.  To be fixed tonight I hope.

Another (minor) suggestion: I had two AWs open, and I instinctually right-clicked the one that was collapsed to close it, and there was no such option on the popup menu. Maybe add that?

great build!   :)

Any present or future chance of running different versions (v9 & beta 10) on the same computer?

Have the outstanding plug-in issues been resolved? (i.e. Nomad IIMG) ?

Oh, my God.... when did we get the ability to open multiple AW's?!? That's awesome!!

The Media Modes thing is a great idea. A couple of suggestions, though...

1. The buttons should be closer to the tree (provided the rest of the interface stays relatively the same), since having to bounce back and forth between the two sides is kind of a pain.

2. Maybe the Media Modes could somehow show us two different Playing Nows... the one with audio and the one with the images, for use with slideshows, etc.

I love it.

One remark. Smartlists should reflect the chosen Media Mode. For ex. no 'video & image' Auto Smartlists should be listed in 'Audio Mode'.

Tried restoring my licence and I get "error restoring media center license: Failed opening registry. You must have administrator privilege to install the license" - I'm Administrator :-)

I cannot run it on 30day-trial... hm... may help be available or do I have to switch back to version 9?

Edit:
Just updated my licence to 9(??-I have been running version 9 a long time, but restore says I have an old license) - which includes a payment of 19,xx$ - and MC10 did not accept. Do I have to do anything else?

Media Mode is very good, but except for the "All" Mode", the others do not reflect my current View Schemes, which consists of different groups. The Other Modes just display default view schemes I never use!

Quick question - is the MC library forward and backward with v9?

(can I install v10 and then revert back to v9 without library or tag corruption?)
