Title: Can't Play CD's [with screenshot]
Post by: Sauzee on December 04, 2003, 11:05:14 pm
MC has stopped displaying the contents of Audio Cd's and data/mp3 CD's.

It does recognise that there is a CD in the drive but doesn't list the tracks [though it does list the folders on a data CD].  See screenshot for an example

Really weird!  With audio CD's it again displays the volume name but not the tracks.

Windows Explorer can see the CD's and foobar plays them.

Any ideas?  I've tried a couple of MC builds with the same problem. Currently on 9.1.316.

I do not have any view filters active.

A long shot, but you never know ;)

Go to "Tools > Options > Devices"....

The last item on that dialogue is "Data CD and portable devices" and the option is to display files in subfolders.

Is it ticked?

Marko

Yes it is ticked. I can't work this one out at all.

I think it may be a Windows problem as Windows Media player cannot play audio CD's. It too see's the audio CD but then says file not found. However WMP plays data CD's fine [which MC doesn't].

Odd though, that foobar doesn't have any problems.

 ?

I ran into a similar problem a little while back.  You may want to run the Autofix utility from Microsoft.

Thanks BullishDad

I tried the patch but unfortunately it didn't help in my case.

I did however discover the problem.  I had taken out one of my optical drives prior to this issue.  When I replaced it, MC saw the full CD on the other drive.

Odd. Suspect it has something to do with the fact that I have in the past manually changed drive letters - so when I took a drive out it confused MC and WMP [but not foobar or Windows Explorer].
