Recently purchased MC9. Tonight 11:00PM EST 11/5/2003, YADB is not retrieving any information for ripped CD's. Is YADB down? How can I fix this?
Thank you

U r not the only 1 with this problem. Mayb in version 10 it will finally work.
Only it's a pitty that it has 2 b a major release! Resulting in paying again 4 something that does not work and has never worked properly.

I just tried it, it worked fine for me maybe it is a problem on your side of the wire?

There was a bug on Win9x / ME.
It should be fixed in 9.1.316 which is available on the top of this board.

Matt,
Finally a confirmation that there is a bug somewhere. Because it works fine (just for a moment) on your side it does not mean that it works correct. Several people posted threads about YADB, so it's clear that there is something wrong.
Maybe it's just that the serverhardware is not sufficient to handle all the lookup requests. On the other hand, I wonder if the requesting PC's really send lookup messages.
As I already mentioned I hope that YADB will get a higher priority on the To-Do list. I already ripped 75% of my CD's to ape. When I'm finished with that I'll probably leave the YADB thing rest! :-\

There WAS a bug. It's been fixed. It was only in a few recent versions.
There are other reasons that YADB may not work. Network setup, ISP problems, firewalls, etc.
The server itself has been working reliably for a long time now.

Thank you for all the feedback.
I think the problem was with the CD's I was trying to rip. I had already ripped ~150 CD's no problem. Then had 3 or 4 discs in a row that did not get the information from YADB. Have tried these same discs at other times and again did not work with YADB..maybe not in the data base? These discs did work with itunes. These are discs I bought from record store, ie they are not copies or bootleg. Here are the discs:
Blues Traveler, Save His Soul. A&M Records 1993.
Cure, Wish. Elektra 1992.
Best of the Doobies, WB.
Billy Joel, Greatest Hits Volume 1 and 2, Columbia.
Are these not in the YADB database?
Anyway, overall Mediacenter 9 is a great program and I am happy with my purchase. I recently got a Squeezebox from Slim devices and used Mediacenter to rip and convert to mp3 to play on the squeezebox which is absolutely awesome. Do you think there will be a plugin in the future to directly interact mediacenter with the squeezebox? I'd purchase it if available.
Thank you
