Title: how to install plugin manually ?
Post by: hit_ny on December 08, 2003, 02:48:43 am
I have downloaded the DirectX host plug-in from here

http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/downloads/mchit.pl?SKIN=815&download=plugin&version=9&url=http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/mc_data/plugins/dsp_directx.mjp (http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/downloads/mchit.pl?SKIN=815&download=plugin&version=9&url=http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/mc_data/plugins/dsp_directx.mjp)

i have unzipped the dsp_DirectX.dll into the plugins dir.

i have tried to install the plugin by pointing at it using the plugin-mgr but it says unsupported pluin-type.

looking at the mjp file i see

File2=dsp_directx.dll
File2Action1=REGISTER

How do i REGISTER this plugin manually ?

reason i ask this is MC is not on an internet enabled PC so i cant do the automatic plugin install!!

all you need to do is change the path to the DLL in the MJP file to the local drive path, and open\run the MJP file.

thanks for the reply king but i am still lost

how does one open the mjp file ?

i tried File->Open Media FIle and get

Warning : Please select file(s) to play

i modified the path in the mjp file.

URL=<drive>\path\dsp_directx.zip

even URL=file://<drive>\path\dsp_directx.zip

You are making the same mistake that I made.  You do not need to use Plug In Manager for these installs.

Click the link on the DL page to install the DX Host directly - do not try to save it to your hard drive.

DX host will then show up in the DSP studio.  I installed the RCG audio plugin (just a normal .exe install into C:\program files) and this showed up in the DX Host within DSP Studio.

Thanks for the help..

the solution was easier than i thought.

changed the path in the mjp to where the zip file was. DBl-click the mjp file.

DONE !!!
