Title: updating media library for back up drive in MC9

I am using an external hard drive to back up my music files and i am using Second Copy 2000 to do regular back ups (every 2 days).  Everything is working fine except that files that i have deleted from my primary copy of my music are still showing in the media library for the back up drive in MC9.  the actual files on the back up have been deleted but in the media library they are still showing, but with a red cross next to the track name instead of two blue music notes.  i can of course look for the tracks with a red cross and delete them manually, but we are often talking about a lot of files which are mixed in with 1000s of other files.  is there a simpler way of doing this?  i am thinking of a function such as the 'do you want to delete empty folders?' which comes up when you rename files from properties.
