I was watching TV in windowed mode...I double-clicked the window to take it to fullscreen and the video was replaced with "Media Center can not display visualizations for this filetype. Visualizations are only available for internally supported filetypes. (mp3, ogg, wav, ape, etc.)" When I double-clicked again to return to windowed mode, the video didn't come back...the message was still there. I had to play some music and *then* go back to the tv tuner to restore the picture.
