I have 2 PCs and one of them is set at 640x480. There's a lot of problems with MC running at a low res. A major thing would be there is too much stuff being shown and not enough space for the tree and file listings.
As a request, I would like to have more control over what's being shown in MC10.
Here's a short list I made so far that I would like to see be made an option via the view menu:
- Search Bar
- Status Bar
- Action Window
- Auto-Hide Player Window
It just seems since 9.0, everything is becoming more crunched together.

MC has some problems running at 16 x 9 resolutions. Thumbnails are drawn incorrectly in Hairstyle, for example. The thumbnails track the proportions of the screen and are all stretchted out, while every other elemente is correctly drawn.

I did not know anyone Still Used 640 x 480

I do. But just because my TV-Set is a special one with VGA interface. The bad thing is it supports only 640x480 @ 60 Hz. This causes a lot of hassels, especially since I replaced my ATI 7500 with a 9600, but that's a different story. To make it short: I'm waiting for reasonable prices for a 72cm/28" LCD.

While I feel for folks running at 640x480, that resolution is so far behind the curve and so hard to reconcile with higher resolutions that it's effectively archival. Most computers shipped in the past 3 years have been set to a minimum of 800x600, IIRC.
It seems like an improved Hairstyle might be the viable option, if not the panacea.
Interestingly, I have my own set of quibbles with MC's display, running at 1920x1200.

BTW, I'm using MC on different computers from 640x480 to 1400x1050. Which one shall I use for the poll? :)

I am running MC at 1280x1024 on my flatscreen with fullscreen out to my TV at 800x600. Hmmm....which way to vote? I'd love to see the fullscreen stuff (hairstyle, etc) render better at these lower resolutions. Perhaps someday I will be able to afford a hi-res tv.

Don't quite know how to vote either:
I typically use 1080i signals with my video projector (1920*1080 or 1776*1000), but otherwise use an XGA flat panel.

I have a built-in display 640x480 in my audio jukebox which displays MC. I control it via NetRemote on 600x800 Simpad.
What I'll probably end up doing is using NetRemote as a front-end on my case display as well and use MC as a powerful background engine.

Well I have to use 640x480 in my car because the monitor doesn't go any higher than that and I really don't want to switch to anything else because I like how MC handles the files (and the fact that I use APE). I have to be able to see the files though. That's the problem.
I tried using hairstyle but it needs to be more fine tuned to be able to use.
On this PC, I use 1600x1200 so MC isn't a problem here.
