Hopefully it will make the process of getting the right plugin for the version you are running work better.
Uploads of new plugins are via email for now (working on that page as well).
Feedback welcome.

The navigation bar on the left is showing the I bar instead of a pointer when you hover over the links.
Out of curiosity, why is it important to select your OS?
And what about MJ8 skins/plugins?

I'll see what I can do to change the mouseover for the Nav bar.
php/javascript/html is still pretty new for me ;)
From what I understand (and the database reflects this) some plugins don't work on older versions of Windows (like 95 and maybe 98).
MJ8 is still using the previous database. I'm trying to untangle the files that cross over between the two and there are stylistic differences between the sites to take into account as well.
Thanks for the feedback!

Also you should give more space to the plugin descriptions, like it was before.

Bob,
If you need any help with it feel free to ask.
php/html/javascript is what I do.
One thing I'd suggest is trying to use css as much as possible over javascript.
Thanks for the updated site.

is there any link in this new page for uploading skins and plugins ?

My LowerLeft skin is missing from the download area now (for 9.1 at least). :-\

Great to see that there are new accessories pages for MC ;)
Whereto the stuff should be mailed?

It can be found, but the animated preview looks a little bit strange... ;)
-
Nice to see version-aware page now. But there's only one 9.1 mega-me skin?
When you click one of the categories on the left, I think it would make sense for them to come up sorted by "Most Popular". That way I wouldn't have to click again to get to the iPod plugin :)

It's still not right. Please give us a few days.

This is one of the things we were expecting the new database to help with (prevent version confusion with the downloads). There actually is only one 9.1 Mega skin in the database at this time. When the upload page is settled we'll ask for the ones floating around out there to get uploaded.

Done, Now maximum of 1024 characters.
-
Cool ... but what about the existing text? It's all truncated still.

We set the page to use a fixed maximum of 200x200 for the iconic (normal) view and the full size for the zoom view. To get the initial 200x200 or smaller images we ran the existing pics through an image converter which seems to have hacked the animated gifs a bit. If you could email me a replacement pic I'll fix it.
The upload address (from the MC Dev center page) is mediacenter AT jriver.com
Anyone else that needs to send plugins/skins before the upload page is completed can send them to that address. Note that I'll need all the info currently on the existing entries (MC version, Windows Version(s), a 200x200 or smaller image and a full size image and a description).
Thanks!

In progress!

Will your new code support the fact that plugins can support many MC/MJ versions?
For example my AlbumView plugin works with MJ 8 and above but I don't want to have to type in the text for every MC version that is out there, e.g. MJ 8.0, MC 9.0, MC 9.1 and MC 10?
-
where is can go to upload skins to the new skins/Plugins Page !?

I think we do what you want (only one description).

Will it be possible to include different versions of the plugin for the same item? so we could do upgrade versions and full install versions?
This is just useful for plugins written in VB where the full install needs to include around 5megs of VB runtime files whereas the update might only be 200kb?
-
That sounds complicated.
Why not just have the option of a separate file for runtimes. So you can upload:
Screenshot
Application Install
Runtime Install
And like the old upload system it will only overwrite what you fill in on the form so you only get the hit of a runtime upload once.
-
Why not just provide a link to the runtimes in the description? Many people probably already have the runtimes installed anyway.
-
It was just an idea, it wouldn't be that complicated to implement, I've done stuff like that on sites before.
You just have the page as it is now but at the bottom where it says download you'd just have links for: Download full install, download upgrade, download v1, download v2, etc. or whatever it was.
php is GREAT for dealing with it as you can dynamically create the variable names and get info from the dynamic variable names so u can make it really easy to accept random numbers of inputs.

Ok, it's changed now so that the choice of "by name, most popular and most recent" are sticky across changes of plugin selections. It still defaults to "by name" but once you select another sort, it stays that way for the duration of the session.

Great work on the section bob, it's a big improvement :)

The "Auto Equaliser" Interface plugin's box is bigger than the others.

The code didn't want to wrap the URL in the description. BTW, if you have a small pic (200x200 or less) and a big pic that you want to email me Nila, I'll fix the missing image display for it. Is there some reason why the .mjp for this one doesn't work? If it did I could remove the URL.
-
Why not just provide a link to the runtimes in the description?
Yeah I thought about that too bus I disregarded it because:
1) You have to host it yourself and not everyone has webspace so and why bother since J River is already providing this capability for free.
2) Having a clickable hyperlink saying "Runtimes" which then auto-installs is much more convenient that cut'n'paste from a description (which will probably be wrapped) into another web browser window, download the file and then the user has to find the file, extract the zip then run the setup.
-
I've e-mailed the updated pics to: bob @ jriver.com - hope that's the right address.
I had to put the URL because when people download it via the mjp the setup isn't working, some of the files are missing it says. When they do it by downloading the link it works fine.
The syntax in the mjp is as far as I can see totally fine, its the same as the other plugins use.

Nila, please don't use real e-mail addresses in posts. They get picked up by robots for SPAM purposes. I inserted some spaces.

Or you could let Microsoft host it...

Do the description fields not support HTML? If not, JRiver could probably just put a link on the download page itself for the VB Runtimes, and the .Net CLRs.

Very nice job Bob, wonderful improvement.

There may also be other 3rd party runtimes for example I used to often use Sheridan and SmartUI controls in my VB apps.
