I've had fun creating various playlists, including some that feature an hour of tunes I've not yet listened to, or an hour of tunes I haven't yet rated, and so on. The common denominator on these sort of playlists is the "limit=60" thingy.
What's surprised and a bit frustrated me, however, is the frequency with which I seem to get certain tracks, and furthermore, consecutive tracks from the same album.
Why is this? And is there any way to get MC to be truly more random, not in sorting (I know of that addition to the playlist specification) but in selection for time-limited playlists?

It really is random. I think it's like that famous "two guys with the same birthday" riddle -- it's a lot more common than we'd think.
Some sort of smart random that limits the number of tracks from an album or artist or whatever is something we're thinking about in MC 10.

Yes, yes. Very good idea (I suggested it a while back ;)).
I made a smartlist worth of random favorites, save it to a playlist, and burn it to a CD. I only want one song from any artist on any CD. This would greatly please me.
Thanks Matt.
