Title: new plugin request for kingsparta
Post by: mhwlng on December 26, 2003, 10:06:38 am
Hello KingSparta,

I hope you don't mind me adressing you directly :-)

I use all your plugins to organise my MP3 files.

Assuming that the artist/track/album ID3 tags are all correct,

Would it be possible to create a plugin to find the

* track number in the album
* find out if the album is 'complete' and set the 'complete album' flag. (I am not sure how MC knows that an album is complete??)
* Year of the release of the album
* Genre

Regards,

Marcel Houweling

it would be if

J river would allow access to YADB thru the SDK.

in version 9.1 J river did not improve the SDK or add new options.

the 3rd party programers were told to wait for improvements to the SDK

sorry to say as of this date none have if any have been included in the SDK.

I would like to not only access YADB but to also access the TRM codes from within the SDK this way a plugin could be made to fix track numbers, genre's and many other fields with missing data.

the TRM# could be used to find dup files way better than the current system.

I seems to me they have other things going on and 3rd party programers (not that there is very many) have been put on the back burner. i am not sure if we will see any of the options i stated even if they did work on the SDK for a day or so.

As a few other programers already stated it is too bad that there seems to be no support\time to work on the SDK for the 3rd party programers.

But to be fare i also do not know what the company is working on that is so top secret that all there time is spent on that and not on the SDK.

As King said ... we programmers have been left out in the cold.   For example a feature they caved in and implemented for us recently (getting the field names in the MC database) doesn't even work.

There is so much we could do to add value to your MC purchase but we have had our hands tied.

About Your Orginal Question

this program has a very good way of finding your mp3's in there database using a fingerprint.

yeah...

I have been using that tool.

the fingerprint system works quite well
I tried it with 900 tracks and 500 were correct. < 50 were wrong and the rest it didn't know...

but :

It does not insert :
* Year of the release of the album
* Genre

and I cannot tell it just to update the

* track number in the album

It insists on overwriting artist name/album/track name as well...

yes, it would be nice if it and J Rivers Finger print allowed you to select the fields to update.

Hopefully when the top secret is released then they'll devote a wee bit more time to the SDK :)
It could definitely do with some love, it's feeling lonely :(
