Title: uploading tunes to the iPod

I just got an iPod and I was transfered files using the synchronize method.  The files showed up as being on the iPod when I used MC to look at it but when I ejected my iPod the tunes were not there.  Where there should have been lists of songs there was nothing.  How can I fix this?
